Oil Pres. Gauge
Saturday, February 11, 2006 8:55 PM
I have an '03 cav with the 2.2 ecotec. i just bought an electronic oil pressure gauge and all the plumbing and fittings to hook it up but i have a problem. i do not know how to remove the old oil pressure sensor. i can't really see it so i can't tell what size of wrench it takes or how to even get to it to remove it. does anyone here know how to remove it or of any other locations to plumb the gauge into?

thanks

patrick

Good luck on this job...and I mean it! The stock sending unit is located right above and to the right of the starter. Easy to get at but...I had to have a custom part fabricated to put both the stock unit and the custom unit(brass no less!). Once working, the gauge reads about 80-90 psi cold and 60 PSI at idle normal temp. - I am not even sure what pressure the ECO runs at so I cant tell you whether that the right reading or not. Anyway, good luck cause you'll need it, the clearance you have to work with is very slim.

Gauge I am using is the Glow Shift guage. Peace

Not at all familiar with the eco tech but I think mine is an inch and an eight, they even make a special socket for it. Go to an auto parts store and ask for the replacement sender and see what fits that.
