2.4 Valve cover replacemnt (How to ?)
Friday, February 10, 2006 5:37 AM
Just wondering how hard it is to install a new valve cover gasket.
All the Mechanics say it's a 8hr job on a 2.4.
Is that really true ?

Any help would be great !

i cant imagine it being 8hrs. maybe a head gasket is 8hrs.

im not positive on it though but i know when i did my valve cover gasket on my 2.2 it took about 20 mins to replace

2.4's dont have a "valve cover gasket". Double check what gasket you're talking about, and post back...

Yes im afraid they do under the IDI cover are the valve covers and they do have gaskets that are pretty notorious for leaks

Yes, it is an 8 hour job, since you pretty much have to pull all the timing out of the car. Have them replace the water pump while thier at it and have it apart anyway.

There are 2 bolts that you dont see that are behind the cam gear.In order to get to them, you have to remove the timing chain.
