1998 2200 plug wires, performance????
Thursday, February 09, 2006 6:13 PM
Just wondering what type of performance plug wires you can get for the 2200 engine, and the places that sell them.
I am looking for some nice performance wires for my sunfire.
I have performnace wires now; they are called sparkco; yes that is how its spelt, lol
They are canadian, but i can not find them anywhere now; the guy i bought them from 3 years ago no longer lives around here so i have no idea where he got them from, but they are in need of replacement now.
Does msd have any for the 2200 engine?
Thanks all.

Wires= wires.
Buy the "performance" wires for the color.

Also the accel wires will be too long for his 2200. They are made for a 2.2 which has the coil packs at the back of the engine.

You know its not hard to shorten them right?

Long wires dont matter at all; you should see the wires on my car now; they are 9mm and are super long; i have them zip tied around my oil dip stick filler neck; way longer then stock.
Is a long wire better then a short one, or is a proper size wire better?
Accel, what mm are they? what colors?

Get the proper length for your car.

I think they are 8mm. And red blue yellow for sure.

Anyone know or have ever seen a set of green or white wires for my 2200?
What are your thought's on them universal wire sets, where you cut them and put your own ends on the wire for your application; any good?

the wires for the 2.2 ohv and 2200 ohv are the same wires, which explains why the on the 2200 there a few inches longer.

Not inches. More like a foot.

Just so you know, Its not hard to nove your coil packs to the back side of the engine like on pre 2200 engines. That would fix that problem.

Why would I want to do that. You would have to extend all the wires going to the icm. Pointless, if all you're trying to do is to put colored wires on your car.

Okay, you just said the wires for the 2.2 and 2200 are they same; then why are people saying that the wires on the 2200 would be like a foot longer; ant the same then in size.
Like i said i have wires that are super long on my car now; they are zip ties around my oil filler neck, i think they look mint; they are boom righ there when ya pop the hood, looks good but i need new wires; i am going to price some today at crappy tire.

Its the same P/N for the 2200 and 2.2 ovh on wires by accel AND msd.

And tom, There is more then enough wire in the harness, you dont have to extend anything. I suggest you do some research before you try to fight me on that point.
And why oh why would i want my coils back there? Not just to have the longer wires? Hmmmm, maybe some people need the room for other things, like a turbo, or Air compressor, or Carbon fiber engine cover, or something else.

Personally the 2200 is staying stock. lol

See, Perfect example of you not able to put up a decent argument.

There is no such thing as a crap intake unless your going stock like yours, OR its made of a prigle container. And as for LOTS of wire loom, when you only have blue available to replace the old dry rotted black, then you have no choice, so STFU.

lol, I find you amusing.

Yes, the 02 2200 has a stock intake. It's not as loud as an aftermarket one. That would be my personal preference on this car. A quiet intake.

Your spectre intake IS made out of recycled prigle containers. So you have no argument there. lol

And you could only find blue wire loom? Seems like a pretty lame excuss.

Blue wire loom is all i had at home. Why did i not drive somewhere to get some black loom, simple the engine wasnt in the car at the time, this was all around the time when i tried the eco swap and found out it had a bad head.

And atleast im environmentally conscious to buy recycled products.
