Help.. no start 95 sunfire 5 speed
Monday, February 06, 2006 6:44 AM
Well this is the story yesterday my car was missing and sputtering slightly so today I decide to make sure my plug wires are good and tight so I remove all my plug wires at the plugs one by one and make sure there good and tight on the plug because I have accel wires and i had to tighten em up with pliers a little bit . Well When I turn it over it turns over like 5 or 6 times with no start so check the wires make sure there all tight again and tight on the coil but now when I push in the slutch and try turn the car over there is nothing the power and pump comes on but when I turn ahead theres nothing not ven a click , The ground seems to be good ... where is the clutch sensor that says if the clutch is in or not ? any help is appreciated

I'm thinking it's gonna be the clutch switch or starter motor it self. Both of these items would make no click noise when failed. If you look around the clutch pedal you should find the switch. Hook a DVOM to the switch, push the pedal in and turn the key as if you are trying to start the car. If the switch is good, you should show voltage going through the switch. If so, replace the starter. If no, replace the switch.

I had a problem with my 95. Glad you found your problem. My problem was with the wiring in my computer. I had a frayed wire (it wouldn't start or would die while running) when the wire was wet.

Yah power was getting to the starter but it wouldnt turn it over but it turns over when I connect the two post with a screwdriver so the colenoid is messed up on the starter...I was gonna just run a push buttom start for now but as I was takin off the bolts from the colenoid switch one broke in half with the rust a sure sign itts original since 95

Starter - GM P/N# 10465490 ACdelco# 323-529 Retail: $142.06 (Go aftermarket it's cheaper, but use that AC delco P/N#, they're the best.)

Well turns out guys that the starter was weak and needed to be changed but the ignition switch was the problem luckily the garage I went to had its own cavalier graveyard and I managed to get one right there , got the oil changed starter put on and ignition switch from them put on for 20 bucks lol cant complain ...Its the same guy I bought the car from so he prolly gave me a break on the parts.
