i have a question i have a 99 cavalier z-24 and here lately i have had problems with several codes like t.p.s. and others and they told me it was water in my e.c.m. i was wondering can you just get another one and replace it as long as its a 2.4 motor or is there other things i need to do before i just get one and put it in. appreciate any help

you can get a junkyard one, or get a new one for like $75 bucks BUT, you MUST:
1. make sure its for YOUR TRANS, if u have manul, get manual ECM, if u have auto, get auto ECM

2. u have to get the ecm programmed to your cluster b/c of the THEFT LOCK on our cars, if you dont, and uyou hook it up, it will run for 2 seconds and shutoff

i'm havin this problem in mine. At first the gauges and radio would go on and off and have odd readings but the car would run. Now the car will only run for like 1 or 2 seconds and shut off?? Is it the ECM gone bad?
