WEll i just installed the lower mount and upper insert and wow does the car shake like a mofo. Is it suppost to be this bad? i mean in reverse or drive at idle the car shakes so bad my dash and both doors sound like they are goin to come apart but in park or neutral it hardly shakes at all. You can here the window and all the metal in the doors shakin and the inside of the dash shaking really bad. Is it suppost to be this bad?

well its the wrong forum...but yea its gonna give Vibes..everyones just gonna say you will "get use to it". But i mean its up to you...performance is going to remove the comfortability...otherwise GM would have put those ON in the first place....hope this makes sense...
anyways i bought the upper cause i wanted the "happy medium" better car but not tooo much shake...

P.S. If they are BRAND new mounts...they do need some time to break in..so give it some time

The upper mount doesn't really do all that much in the shaking department. It's the lower mount that makes the big change. I used red thread lock on the bolts, snugged them up like normal, then backed them off 1/4 turn. After a few checks to make sure the bolts weren't backing out, I drive with confidence now.

dude it means that your motor could possibly be running bad maybe even missing but the mount wouldnt have anything to do with vibrations trust me i dont know where these guys come up with there nowledge but it certainly isnt ase certified nowledge the mount would only let the motor move like a hard jolt when you gave it gas trust me u would hear it when it did

check my ride out from scratch to present and vote for me !!!

That is 100% wrong.

Engines vibrate. Unless you've engineered the perfect straight 6 and dropped it in your Cav, your engine is going to shake around. That's what they do. Engineers add balance shafts and take other measures to minimize this, but it's inherent in the architecture of the engine.

In order to isolate those vibrations from the rest of the car as much as possible, one of the things they do is to put in relatively soft rubber engine mounts. These act as a damper between the engine and the car so it can have a bit of freedom to move around without the whole car feeling it.

When you put the upper insert in and especially when you replace the lower mount with the hard urethane packed dog-bone mounts available for our cars, you're taking away that range of motion and the vibrations get transferred to the rest of the car.

When you first put it in, you'll feel that for sure you've done something wrong and maybe even broken something.

Give it a couple weeks before making your final judgement call. The new mounts will soften up a little over the first few weeks. After that, if it's still too much for you then you can replace the lower one with the stock one again. I don't think anyone's ever had complaints with just the upper insert.

To clarify; yes, the car will seem to vibrate more because the engine is more directly connected to the chassis. However, if the whole car is shaking, that IS a problem. In Drive, the engine is under load and may be felt even more. Park shouldn't be any different than Neutral. Tranny service may be needed. Could be as simple as a fluid flush/fill.
