Wind affecting MPG???

ok, quick question. can wind dramatically affect your gas mileage?

i typically average 27-28 miles a gallon. the last 2 weeks its been really windy. pretty much every day, to and from work. more of a side wind but it was still coming a little head on.

the first week, my mileage dropped to 22MPG. i figured, 58K on my fuel filter, its probably time to change it

the second week, with the filter changed, i had to fill up my tank after 3 days and only got 21MPG. after that i cleaned my filter (was pretty dirty) and finished the rest of the week. i finished off that tank with 24MPG.

this week, with no wind, i'm back up to 27MPG.

i would think that wind would affect the mileage a LITTLE bit, but 5-7MPG??

GO PATS!!!

Ya that's pretty normal, small things can have a big effect. Tire pressure, wind, dirty air filter, all effect how hard the engine has to work to maintain speed.

15.3 @ 89.97mph, 14's on the way?

Ya, from being in trade school and such wind takes up 45% of your actual fuel used
