Gone through 4 blower motor resistors HELP!
Thursday, January 26, 2006 11:29 AM
Like I said 4 now. Is there supposed to be some trpe of air filter in the duct work for the vent so that water cant get down to the blower? When it snows and I clean the car off then start it up you can hear the fan throwing a little bit of snow arround and all the resistor I have replaced are coroded from the water. I fixed the last one I put in yesterday.

My second one (the one I'm on now) went out. I have no air being blown out on settings 1 or 2. I'm too cheap to fix it anytime soon since I plan on getting a "new" car in late May.

Although it does suck driving in winter with it like this.

Well, best I can recomend is to seal the resistor in clear silicone caulk-thin layer, seal up the electrical conections, then drill a small (!) Near the resistor for water to drain out. Also check the front end, to. There probably is blockage in the normal drains in the intake.

What drain in the intake?

I think he's talking about the drain holes in the cowl. I had this problem with a 1993 Cavalier (water getting into the passenger side floor) and leaves had clogged up the drain hole on the passenger side.

God bless America.
