Ok. when i was replacing the timing chain, the cam moved on me, and i couldn't get it back where i needed it. My chiltons says somethign stupid about BLah Blah BLah timing allignment GM tool thing.

Whats the alignment procedure on the LD9?

And why does it have to be stupid, i know there has to be marks, i see marks on my cam and crank but i dont know propper alignment.

you can put a bolt in the cam gear to lock it.

You have to put the mark on the crank gear in line with the mark in the timming housing (12 o'clock). Then you set both cams (with a bolt, M8 if I remember correctly) in the right spot. Put the chain on with NO slack between both gears and between the intake cam gear and the crank.

i guess what im asking is, where is that "Right Spot" I know how to time it, i just dont know where the cams go. I have the crank lined up, but how do i line the cams up?

see what im asking?

i know how to do it, just know where to put it. Theres a little hole in the cam gears, is that supposed to be the timing mark? Im about to drive over and get my other engine, and tear it apart and see where the cams are in relationship.

the little hole in the cam gear goes with the hole in the timming housing. The both line up. The exhaust cam is close to 5 o'clock and the intake cam is like 7 o'clock.
