I've read about this before on here, but I couldn't find the post.
I got an 04 Ecotec 5spd Cavalier. When I put the clutch in, for example, I'm rolling up to a red light and put the clutch in, instead of returning to a 1000 rpm idle, the RPM's drop to 300-400 hundred, and a few times the engine has just stalled completely. other times, it will stay revved at about 1600 RPM. I took it in and they scanned it. The dealer told me it hadn't thrown any codes, but they reflashed the computer. Problem went away for about a week or two, but now it's getting worse again.
I can't find any pattern to it, usually only does it once the engine has warmed up. It is only and intermittant thing, some days it doesn't happen at all, other days it happens constantly. It doesn't matter if I have the heat on full blast, the stereo blaring and the ABS working, or if I have everything off.
I do have an AEM CAI, and my stereo amp (not a very big one) running of the battery, could that be the cause?
If anyone has any guesses, answers, suggestion, that would be great. Thanks
There is a TSB put out by GM for this problem. They need to flash the PCM. Just take the car to the dealer and tell them you would like to have the PCM flashed per
TSB# 04-06-04-063
The service writer might not know what you are talking about, but the tech working on the car will.
When I brought it in they flashed the computer with the most up to date program, or so they told me, but I'll ask them about this.
thanks
