2200 Clacking noise
Monday, January 23, 2006 10:58 AM
Just throwing this out there, havent' opened it up yet to check what the problem is, but i've been told that its quite normal. Could the rocker nuts have backed off a bit, and alow a bit of play and causing the clack noise?

Any other issues? its a 98 2200, 145k kms on it, runs like a beaut, it seems to be using a little oil, but that might be because the way i drive it, i might be doing 1.6:1 rockers soon, and will have to check it all out.

anything else i should be worried about?

i've had a few good friends tell me that my engine's tighter than a nun's cunt... but i just want to make sure

2.2 have a bad way of sounding like crap damn timing chain tensioner lets the chain rattle around a bit and sound like valve and lifter tick.

@!#$ i never even thought about that.... would it even be worth to replace the tensioner? kuz i'm thinking that could be it, it comes from that side of the engine, i always thought it was one of the lifters/rockers for #1 cylinder

Getting a new timing chain probally does not fix the tensioner noise does it?
I am not the most mechanical guy; so bare with me; the timing chain tensioner is that on the passenger side of the 2200 engine?
My car make's like some sort of weird noise as well, kind of ticking, or something; more on cold start ups i think; its a 2200(98)
