Could also be tranny fluid, is it thick or really runny?

if its like an orange/red its most likley your coolant.

mine is all over the ground and its been a rough time trying to get it narrowed down until now.

Check your coolant resevour and see if your below normal before running your car and you will figure it out.

How could it be humanly possible for transmission fluid to travel upwards and seep through a floor pan?

The heater core runs about $300 new for just the part. Labor is 4.5 hours. So multiply the 4.5 with what ever the labor rate of the shop you are going to is.

You will not get out of this for under $600 if you take it to a shop.

I assure you I have no idea. What does this have to do with the question?

Clean your garage floor and try to narrow down the area that it's dripping from. Then you can start your search for the leak in the front of the engine bay (radiator and hose connections), passenger side (overflow tank and connections) or middle (hose connections to engine, maybe even a head gasket). Good luck.

sounds like tranny fluid...i doubt your heater core is rusted through, ...if fluid feels like oil its tranny if its like water its antifreeze....look around you'll see marks or something where the fluid has been getting on the engine or tranny then you can find where its coming from

Don't dismiss the heater core idea... (if by floor he infact means the "floor" inside the car).

I've seen heater cores balloon and crack on cars newer than a year. If your car was built with a unit that is less strong than normal (it happens, believe me) and you like to rev past 3000 rpm when you're coolant is cold, it can expand, crack and leak. Last car I saw that happen to was a 2003 Impala, and that was back in 2004.
