well ive seen a couple commericals about it on tv and did a search didnt find anything. Anyone use this stuff?
nope, but i do use Mobil 1, good stuff to use.
i use it non stop 10w-30 . its good oil and never had any probs they claim it has extended service life something like 12000km or 15000km which is good if ya dont have time to change it on time.
Yes, I use royal purple 5w-30 in the 04.
it sounds like pretty damn god stuf from there website. I mite start using it i would still never trust my oil more then 3k miles. How much does that stuff cost a quart?
Depends where you get it. The price just went up on the stuff, so we sell it for 5.29 a quart. Other places like Autozone and pepboys sell it for 5.99 a quart.
I used it for about a year and then switched to Mobil 1 since Wal-Mart has the 5 quart jug for $20. I doubt there is much of a difference between the two. I've been into my timing chain area several times and I never saw any kind of sludge build up between the two. No difference in gas mileage either.
I use mobile, but id like to try the hige mileage from valvoline
I use mobile one syn 5w 30 but im going to be switching to 10w 30 in like the next month or so when i go boosted.....

boost will be soon for me....
Before you go and just throw some full synthetic oil in your car, you have to ask yourself a few questions...
1. How hard to I really use my car in order to need RP Racing oil?
2. What company do you know that doesn't make it seem like their product is the shiznit, especially on a web page?

3. Have I properly transitioned my engine over to full synthetic? - This process is known as conditioning your gaskets. Especially in older and/or high mileage cars, the engines gaskets get hardened and caked w/deposites. Full synthetic oils will have more "blow by" because your gaskets aren't used to the thinner synthetic oil. You can damage engine parts and burn a lot of oil that way.
To remedy this problem, use a synthetic blend oil for 1-2 oil changes. This will help get your car used to the synthetics while still maintaining a good seal.
I love synthetic oil. I think they are far superior then the OG oils. Just make sure you do it right. I personally used Mobil 1 in all my cars. (Got a good discount at Wilde) The purple stuff is too expensive and I don't actually "race" my car. Just the monthly auto x.
In the end, it's your money, spend it how you want. If you got the cash flow, go ahead. Just my 0.02 cents (USD)

Synthetic is great stuff, I used it in the '99 2200 base coupe I bought brand new. If you're gonna keep changing it every 3000, it wouldn't be worth it to me. I'm not saying you have to run 10 or 15000 miles like they claim you can, but I'd probably feel safe running synthetic 5-7000 miles.
Like RailS said though, in the end its your money, so you have to decide for yourself.

^^MYTH.
Synthetics have more detergents which clean the engine more, sometimes detaching debris that was preventing a leak.
i still find these older engines and synthetics = bad amusing.
At 70,000 miles I moved my 89 Bonneville from a life of non-synthetics to synthetics. During college I couldn't afford the synthetic so I went back to non-synthetic. Once I got a decent paying job at college I went back to synthetic.
I also used the gunk engine cleaner a few times.
The car never leaked, or burned one drop of oil. 3800V6.
It now has over 130,000 miles and my stepdad uses it as his daily driver.
I did however in the life of my ownership of it go thru 3 alternators, and 2 waterpumps.

Exactly!! They have also had seal swellers in them since the 1990's!!
Switch over and don't look back unless your wallet says so!! I will be running RP5w30 on my next change!!

there oil is junk, look on it for an ase certified sticker, i know when it came out they couldnt even meet the standards to get it certified, which is maby why it makes more Hp than other oils, due to its lack of what oil should have in it, my teacher at school pointed that out to us after i had blown up my atv running royal purple in it, and damaged my truck motor, coincidence, i dont know, but i would have to say you cant beat kendall ao mobil one, if mobil one is the only thing they reccomend putting in all corvettes its plenty good enuff for a cavalier
I used royal purple for a while. diddn't feel a seat of pants difference but I trusted it becouse I have seen many biuldups where they swiched out the oil for royal purple and got like 5hp at the flywheel
however for my last oil change I was on a super strict budjet so I used the cheapest advance-auto $1.38 a quart 5-30 I could find. and for reasons uknown to to me I swear the car picked up. my wife was the first to discover this and I thought she was crazy until I floored it for myself

Royal purple does have an SAE label.
And yes mobile one is factory fill on a slew of cars. Probably because they pay them to recommend (mobile one) or use their oil.

Hey ,
If ASE certifications are as expensive as API ( API's cost more than a house... ) then why have both!! And besides, when ASE starts paying for my car, or my oil, then I wil buy crap with their labels on them, otherwise, I buy what I want, with or without an ase sticker!!
