Trans fluid doesnt go away. You can buy a car with 1 mile and not touch the fluid, at 100,000 it will have the same level.

Are you checking it due to a concern, trans slipping or something?

I know that. I baught the car with 59,000 miles on it. its got 62k now and if/when I go to change the filter I want to know I have a way to verify fluid level for refilling it

it's a stupid system, but on the r/h side of the trans, where the axle shaft comes out, there is a small plug, it's a 11mm or 7/16 wrench, this is the trans fluid check plug, after you do you filter change, put in 6 litres of fluid in the trans where the red knob is, have the car on level ground, start it and remove the plug. you will have the proper level when fluid comes out that hole where the plug is, so keep adding until fluid comes out, reinstall the plug and you're done.
