i went to start my car yesterday and it didn't start... battery has charge so its not the battery.
when i go to start it, it clicks once or twice and then the power just cuts out... no lights, nothing for a few minutes until it resets.
what is the problem? starter or something in the ignition? also, when i turn the key to on position, i do get lights and power.

It might still be that your battery doesn't have enough juice to turn the starter. If that is not the case, it sounds like your starter, but make sure you have 12V running to your starter.

Ban low-performance cars, not high-performance ones.
try jumper cables, see if it fires up, if not, then id say starter.

It's probably/could be a bad connection.
Disconnect the battery cables and clean them and the battery terminals, shiny clean where they contact.
Disconnect the earth lead at the chassis/engine points and clean those contact areas also.
Check the positive cable contact on the starter solenoid is clean/tight.
Reconnect everything and try to start again.
This assumes your battery and starter are good.
You may have something more serious but this is a cheaper way to go and may save you buying a battery or starter.
Post back with with your progress so someone can help.
Good Luck
