The driver's side power window on my '02 Sunfire will not go closed unless I wait for approximately 30 seconds after I open it. It's a coupe - the passenger side window does not behave this way. I think this issue has been covered in this forum, but I can't seem to find a link to the discussion. From what I gather, this is a common phenomenon. Perhaps it has something to do with the "auto down" (or whatever it's called by GM) feature for driver's side windows.

Any feedback about this would be appreciated. WR

Happened to me too - driver's side first as well... At first I just had to wait to close it, then the wait was longer and longer until I finally had to manually "help" it up. Then I think it just quit all together. It cost like $600 (luckily under warranty) to replace both at a dealer... the motors wore out apparently. I saw a document a while ago about this and which ones to use when you get it replaced... Not sure where it came from or if the info is correct, but here is what it says:

Power Window Motor Replacement
If the owner of a 1987-present Cavalier or Sunfire is concerned about a power window
motor that does not work, or has had a short service life, it may be due to an incorrect
replacement part. The original service replacement part number 12487630 was briefly superseded by a bronze-colored universal motor part number 12497971. The correct part number is 24015712 and is silver in color. 24015712 will work on both current and older Cavaliers and Sunfires. Part release number information has been corrected.

Not sure if that helps, but it's all I got...
