alternator dying again

Just wondering if anyone knows what the warrenty is on these things (alternator) , I had it replaced in 2002 at a dealership and i just want to know if they have a lifetime warrenty or not so i know what to expct when i drop it off. Thanks.

Don't know but it's a good idea to replace the battery at the same time as the alternator as a crappy battery can ruin an alternator. I've had the best luck just getting one from a late model wreck at the junkyard. www.car-part.com.

To the one poster, that is simply untrue. Unless the battery is bad it is stupid to replace it.

Secondly lots of things can cause repeated alterntaor failure, the first thing I would check is your belt condition, to tight or loose will cause it to fail.

If you get the old one apart find out what failed, windings, diode, bridge rectifter, brushea, lots of things inside can fail. Would be interesting to know what did.
