Shift Indicator

I drive a 5-speed '01 cavilier and I was wondering if anyone knows how to disable the little yellow arrow that flashes when the car thinks you should shift, because the car doesn't know when to shift for @!#$ and it bugs the crap out of me. If I did what the light told me to do, I could be driving in 5th gear while going 25 mph..

That light is for economy purposes, not performance. The only way I know how to disable it, is to destroy the LED inside the cluster, or put tape over it, etc... which requires taking the cluster apart.

On a side note... I've never seen it working in a Canadian car. Only in US ones. Odd.

I was hoping for a solution less.. ghetto. something that won't damage or de-value my car.. maybe clipping a wire somewhere?

Take out the guage cluster and place a piece of tape over it on the back. That's what I did. OR, you can get the schematic for the cluster from a Haynes or Chilton, and find that wire and cut it. Just a thought.

Be kind to dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

The light is controlled by the cluster, and wired inside the cluster. There is no external wire that you can cut, sorry.
