window problem
Sunday, January 01, 2006 1:33 PM
Last night when I got in my car I went to put my window down for a second to talk to my friends and couldnt put it back up when i went to leave. Im not sure if its off its track or not. There power windows and I know it cant be the motor because i tried to put it all the way down and it did but then it still wouldnt go back up. So I have a bag in my window right now for the meantime until i figure out whats up. So if anyone has any ideas on whats wrong or has had this happened to you before let me know.

Sounds like a Regulator problem

I think it's a window motor problem myself.

If the motor is bad, it still will go down.

welcome to the crappy GM window motor problem. replaced all four motors in my 02 cavy at least twice.

window goes down, won't go back up right away. wait 2 minutes, it goes up a few inches. wait another few minutes, goes up another few inches.

GO PATS!!!

Replaced both of mine twice on my 97. Ended up getting them w/ a lifetime warranty on ebay. Also actually found the seller actually honored it.

Glad I found some info on this known problem. I'm working on a friends '99 Cavalier and she has issues with three of her windows. Exactly the problem that Sparks described.
I've searched and this is the first place I've found any info. Anybody know of anywhere I can find more info on this?
Also Sparks, how simple or difficult are these motors to change out?
Thanks!!!

i've never had to change one out of warranty. i suppose eventually i'll get around to fixing my rear window, but its not a concern yet.

i've heard is a big pain. the stockers and pot riveted in so you have to drill them out. everything is tight in the door so i guess its a real pain to get the motor out. i've heard to expect a headache, a few hand cuts, and bad mood afterwards.

search around a little more, i think someone posted directions a few weeks back.

GO PATS!!!

Thanks Sparks! I just assumed you did the work. Sounds like 92CAVQUEST did though.
I'll search around and see if I can find anything else.

yea i had this problem on mine if it doesnt want to go back up wait like 20 seconds then it should go up more....if not then your screwed lol.....you could also try pulling it up while pushing the button to relieve some stress on the motor....

OK, I got it done yesterday.Changed three window motors. It took most of the day, but its done. Wasn't exceptionally difficult, just took a while to figure whats where. Rear is much easier and faster than the front.

Thanks for the help everyone!!!

ive done it twice in a 99 cav and its a bitch. i took me 3 hours and 2 trips to canadian tire to get it done.
