Car vibrates at idle, very slow driving
Sunday, January 08, 2006 1:14 PM
Started my car up yesterday to find my car was vibrating out of control and the check engine light was on. I decided to take it for a spin, and it had a lot of trouble increasing speed. I thought it might be the spark plug wires...but I guess the ecotec does not have them? Any ideas?

is it shifting really funny, bogging down?

if you turn it off and start it back up does it run fine for a while?

give us a few more details and we'll be able to help you better. but an initial guess is that you're having the same throttle position sensor problem that a guy a few days ago was having...

It's not shifting funny. When I turn it off and start it back up the car still vibrates and the check engine light is still on. It's hard to provide details... there's not much that can be said really.

hmmm i would say try to find out what code is coming up to make your check engine light come on first.. and then go from there. after that i would check things like that harmonic balancer, and the crank position sensor... just a guess since im thinking on limited input.. let us know what happens.. good luck man..

How many miles on the car. You might wanna check your fuel filter. I have no clue about the ignition on the ecotec but if it is anything like the 2.4 then it might be the coil housing that has a crack in it. Both are simple fixes. Not expensive eather so check those out. Good luck with it and let us know what it was.

Sounds like a plug went bad and the PCM is reading a misfire? Need a code to be sure.

hmm just from skimming the post, seem like a cylinder is missing but get the code checked out u'll know even more then.

It needed a new coil.
