2009 TVR Shootout Voting Thread
Sunday, December 07, 2008 4:07 PM
Ok guys here's your one shot at finally settling what the 2009 TVR Shootout will be, once and for all. There are some very simple rules for this thread.

1) Discussion goes in the other thread, this is for VOTES ONLY please
2) Each person gets ONE, AND ONLY ONE, vote.
3) If you have no intention of coming, don't vote. If you plan on coming just to watch, say so in your post.
4) These are your only options right now. Any other ideas should be put into the discussion thread for consideration.

With that taken care of....here are your options for the 2009 TVR Shootout.

A) Heads-Up race with only the 1st round being Ecotec vs LD9 guaranteed. 16 car field.
B) Heads-Up race with only the final round being Ecotec vs LD9. 16 car field.
C) Heads-Up race with random draw for 1st round. 16 car field.
D) True Bracket race; anyone vs. anyone. Unlimited field.
E) Index Bracket races; 14.00 and quicker in one class which 14.01 and slower in another. Unlimited field.

Now begin voting!

In Fairness, A mix of A and E. As I Believe this will help with N\A VS N\A, and Boosted Vs Boosted.

Indexed Heads up?

i agree with a & e. ill be there. should be in the 12's but maybe 13's hoping for 12's but id rather make it so we have a chance for everyone to win since some are more consistant than others, but at the same time, plus it give the people a chance who have no chance to even consider the quick 8. like my car, its highly consistant but not capable of the quick 8.

I like A&E as well. If there is heads up racing and bracket racing i can bring 2 cars. I am hoping to be in the running for the heads up racing or at least go a couple rounds. lol I also like the idea of the n/a field and a boosted field.

Indexed Brackets could be split up into 3 or 5 classes but running 2 Heads-Up races makes no sense with a time break of 14.00 as the middle ground. There is too big a gap from the 10 second HRC car to the 14.00 S/C cars and the 14.01 N/A cars to the 17.00 second N/A cars.

How's this....
A) 11.99 and faster
B) 12.00-12.99
C) 13.00-13.99
D) 14.00-14.99
E) 15.00-slower

That's about the closest I could give you guys to Heads-Up while keeping things really close.

Do it like that, then get the best from each to battle each other, LD9 VS Quad?

....

We would need a lot of cars for that.

B)12.5-13.0

Anything other then full heads up is a waste of my time, and I'll stay home.

Its a shootout....... if you want to bring a 9mm Glock, and the rest bring M40 Sniper Rifles, dont be surprised if your dead before you even unholster your pistol.

IE: Dont bring a 14 sec car and expect to stand a chance against a 11 sec car. Your out of your league.

A musket is a muzzle-loaded, smoothbore long gun, which is intended to be fired from the shoulder.

Usually, the musket is thought to be the weapon that replaced the arquebus, and was in turn was replaced by the rifle. But the term “musket” has applied to a range of different weapons, starting with a long, heavy weapon with a matchlock or wheellock and loose powder fired with the gun barrel resting on a stand, and ending with a lighter weapon with rifling and percussion caps, affixed with a bayonet. Muskets were primarily designed for use by infantry. A soldier primarily armed with a musket had the designation musketman or musketeer. Initially, 16th Century troops armed with a heavy version of the arquebus called a musket were specialists supporting the arquebusiers and pikemen formations. By the start of the 18th Century, a lighter version of the musket had edged out the arquebus, and the addition of the bayonet edged out the pike, and almost all infantry became musketeers. In the 19th Century, improvements in ammunition and firing methods allowed rifling to be practical for military use, and the rifled musket became common. About the time of the introduction of cartridge, breechloading, and multiple rounds of ammunition just a few years later, the term "rifled musket" gave way to "rifle", and "musket" fell out of fashion.

Typical musket calibres ranged from 12 mm to 20 mm (.50 to .80 inches). Depending on the type and calibre, it could hit a man's torso at up to 200 m (220 yards), though it was only reliably accurate to about 60 m (70 yards). Percussion cap rifled muskets were significantly more accurate, with the ability to hit a target at up to 500 yards.

I just had to do it

Thats one @!#$ up definition of a "musket"

most US Muskets (ya know, the ones that beat the largest standing army in 1775-1814) were .75-.48 cal

LOL @ hitting something at 220 yards with a smoothbore. (again, most US muskets were Riffled, Ergo the term "Rifle" came in to use)

But the metaphor was funny.

But yes, it will be good to see you again Ben.
