Let's do an example here. Let's supposed you want to lower the cavalier as much as possible, while still looking good. The recommended parts usually are
- Eibach Sportlines
- Tokico D-Spec Struts
Let's see the prices on these parts
Cheapest Eibach sportlines I have found online
http://streetperformanceusa.com/i-9593606-eibach-sportline-extreme-lowering-springs-includes-front-rear.html?gclid=Cj0KEQjw3IieBRDl1oG0gr_PweoBEiQAwGHVw5MeI3YuyRy9ZIwGSOtKV4NT
Jr9VjdttAMm05-brCDwaAuAB8P8HAQ
$218 + shipping $40 = $260
Cheapest Tokico D-spec
$607 + shipping $38 = $645
http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=TODSP-1&Category_Code=TOKICO-DSPEC-COMPLETE&Store_Code=EM&gclid=Cj0KEQjw3IieBRDl1oG0gr_PweoBEiQAwGHVww2nuNqq
gXO9DlOSiY_PlocEbLNShvduVftk2Cizna8aAqGw8P8HAQ
The total is $905 + installation = around
$1000
1000 dollars to lower a cavalier, mainly because of the cheapness of the car, we are forced to buy new struts
To that, add the price of new wheels and tires, cause who rides lowered without new wheels? no one, and now you are neighboring around $1500-2000k
A cavalier right now, in stock form, and with 70k miles, how much do you really think people would pay for it?
At the most $3000, if that
You are basically spending $1000-2000 to lower your car with some new wheels, more than half the current value on your car, just to lower it a few inches, and make it look "faster", when in reality, 99% of people won't even notice the difference
Might as well, seel your cavalier, and use those $2000 to get a better vehicles, that looks better (lowered suspension, better wheels, etc) from the factory
Also, the majority of people who own this cars, don't mod it, they use it for what they really are, transportation, good of gas, from point A to B, cheap throwaway cars
Only a very small community is actually modding the cavalier and sunfires, therefore, these parts, never go down in price, since very few people actually buy them
I know because I have keep track of these parts since 2008, and they haven't gone down in price at all, obviously not, since very few are buying them
What with all the complaining lately? Sheesh people if you don't wanna spend the money then don't.
Modifying any vehicle, vast support or not, is a money and time consuming process.... the logic of mod something else is not really logic, the real logic is this.... Don't modify your vehicles at all.
But real car enthusiasts or real j-body enthusiasts are not in it for cheap and easy outcomes, real enthusiasts don't care about the bottom line, they mod what they want, because they want to, regardless of cost, its that simple.
1) Stop double posting, as
shole.
2) Why do you feel the need to join a site just to complain about people on the site doing what they want to do?
3) Please GTFO and DIAF
On the one hand, I should just ban this guy for being an obvious troll.
On the other hand... this is the most action I've seen here in a while...

How is the content on my thread considered trolling
when 100% of the information, links, priced, I have posted are correct.
Trolling is passing false information to a target audience, making them believe, that you are an idiot, when in reality, you are not
My post is 100% serious. Nobody talks about this, how lowering the cavalier, and putting on wheels, is basically half, the cost of your car.
I want to lower my car just as anyone else, but I cannot bring myself to spend that much money, which I cannot even finance, on just a small improvement in looks
trolling is coming on to an enthusiast forum and bashing what they do, claiming that it's stupid/wasteful just because you don't see the desire in it. if you want to lower your car, do it. if you don't want to spend that kind of money, then don't. it's that simple. don't try and tell other people not do modify their cars simply because you don't have some extra cash to mod yours. besides, with the sheer number of people who have already lowered their cars, i guarantee that you can find a set of used struts/springs for considerably less than buying brand new.
considering you have a car that is over 10 years old. i lowered my car for the cost of gas 5 hours away and back and lunch/drinks on the way. didn't pay for my first setup. now go away
this is the start of my signature: have you read the

Ok since you seem to complain about upgrades what will you do when routine maintenance or a failure happens that needs to be addressed?Case and point I a while back had to drop about $270.00 in my fuel system due to age/repair.The short fuel pump died, fuel sending unit showed full all the time, and my hoses to the tank were aging. So I buy all the parts do a full on restoration to FIX my car myself and it runs fine work turned out great. So next point is my car is maybe worth 1200.00 so do I fix it or sell it?Well I will FIX it of course because I like my car and the cost to (fix, repair, restore) certain things it just happens and I think your missing the real point as to why people continue spending on there cars! The bottom line is regardless of the real value IF you love, like or enjoy your ride you will spend money to address any problems, upgrade certain areas as you choose no matter what the cars kbb is or nada as it is your ride.I think since you do not have the money to upgrade your ride keep it stock and just take care of it and stop whinning about how expensive aftermarket parts are.You do seem to complain a touch wayyyy toooooo much.
Technically the cost of your car is how much you paid for it. So unless you paid 3k for your car then 1500 isn't half the cost of your car. It may be however, half of what your car is worth. But as long as your car isn't for sale you can make your car be worth anything. For example my sunfire may only be worth 2-3k on kbb but if it's not for sale I can say it's worth whatever I want it to be because I wouldn't sell it unless I was offered that amount.
If you want to argue then two can play at that game. I'll have you know that in case you haven't noticed there are some people on here that are very good at arguing
2002 Pontiac Sunfire SE Sedan 2.2l Ecotec 4 Speed Auto.
You're a troll because you come on a site dedicated to J-body enthusiasts and make these stupid threads crying about modifying J-bodies. Go burn your car, delete your account and pi
ss your money away on a car you feel is worthy of it.
But in summary of all responses here,
STFU!

My car IS for sale. Judging by the offers I've got, it's worth absolutely nothing.
this dude. lmao your bitching and complaining about us modding j-bodys because everything is expensive? are you @!#$ty me right now? okay, go buy a car that is newer, more expensive, and "better looking". you're gonna pay around 25-30k to have a completely stock car with around 200hp. go look up mods right now for a camaro or even imprezas, evos, challengers, mustangs, and @!#$ might as well throw in a duramax, power stroke, and cummins while you're at it (this is so you can go to their forums and bitch to their community how their cars are complete @!#$ because they start out so expensive and then modding them is outrageously expensive). you will blow a @!#$ head gasket because i can tell you modding a new car is 3X more expensive than a j-body. id rather put 4-7k into my $3000 car and have it whoop a brand new cars ass plus not have a loan on my car and a warranty restricting me from modding the car the way i want to. 300+HP (if done right) cavaliers total cost: ~7-10k. 300hp for any of that total cost: ~40k

Please, for everything that is right in this world, take your own advice.
So he's complaining about prices on a site where we spend what we want to make us happy?
Really?
He thinks it's bad here he should check out the Tempo/Topaz or Escort sites....

Buy them and let me know how they work out for you it should take the cost of suspension wheels and tires to under $800
Coilovers $250
Wheels and tires $500
Total cost $750
And everyone knows coilovers are better than regular springs and shocks right.
it says sunfire, would they fit the cavalier?
can you adjust them, so the lowering is similar to the sportlines drop?
seems to good to be true, that for 250 bucks, you can lower your cars safely, just like with sportlines and tokico struts
