which of these cavalier designs do you guys think looked the best?
1) 1994 Cavalier
2) 1996 cavalier ****My car looks just like this one and it's kinda grown on me****
3) 2000 cavalier
4) 2004 cavalier
God I hate them all. 4 doors are just not for me. In 2 door I used to like the 00-02 the most but my 05 ls sport has really grown on me. I'll still say that in base model the 00-02 style is the best. 03-05 bumpers without the sport package aren't so pretty.

Agreed!!! With the addition of 03 side skirts over the 02.

1 and 4, since I owned a 93, and currently own an 03.....

I'm going to go with 1,
but the 82-87 looked the best in my opinion, with 88-90 close behind.
my example of 82-87 beauty
and a random picture of a phase 1 second gen, (88-90)
89 z24. Nothing can top it but a first gent type 10 hatch.
On the inside my car looks like a fighter jet.
Favorite 1983 Cavalier Wagon or hatch.
Second Black 87 Z24.
Third Aqua Marine 95-99 Z24.
A few pics of older gens...

Holy crap! To the OP... did you purposely pick the ugliest versions of those years you could find? I'd like to strike ANY car with unpainted bumpers immediately from contention and will have words with anyone who suggests otherwise!!
I think we can also eliminate all 1st gens since... well... they were perfectly fine in their day, but I don't see any argument for them being the best looking of all that came later.
I think the two biggest contenders were listed above. The 88-90 Z24 for it's muscle-car look with the cowl hood and for being the only one that ever came with a stylish two-tone look. I think they really got that one right and honestly still think they look quite nice today. The ones that came after looked more modern with the integrated skirts and what not, but I think that two-tone with the silver skirts really set it apart from the masses.
The other one is the 2002 Z24 with that little bit of extra bling in the inclusion of the front skirt extension and the painted door handles. That's about the only time I've ever seen them "add something for the sake of adding something" and have it work out nicely.
The 03+ is just a hodge-podge of changes to try and make it look different when the whole platform should have been scrapped, and that's just way too obvious in a lot of the details. The rear-end treatment is a complete travesty and the headlights look like nothing that's ever come before or since.
There's my opinion. Any argument?

95-99 z24 is best. that is all.
M45/OS crank/2.4 snout. It's nice to be injected but I love being blown!

Is it because it's yours?
I really think the refresh in 2000 with the new clear headlamps was a nice step forward.
2002 Z24 is the most well rounded IMO. & not because I own one.
Supercharged 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24
I hear ya. Painted handles and mirrors. Front lip. It was definitely the high point for the 3rd gens.
4 doors are at the bottom of my list. The roofline is too high. But if I had to pick one of the OPs pics, it would be the 04.
Aside from that, any 1st or 2nd gen would easily win out in my book. I prefer older, squarish cars better. The 88-90 body style is ho-hum, then GM pulled it together in 91 with a facelift to match the rest of the body. 95-02 is too.....something, like "compact-carish", GM went into cookie cutter mode with it, not attractive at all to me. The 03-05 facelift is acceptable. I think the ultimate would be an 86-87 front clip on a 2nd gen body.
.
1st gen Z24's Hatchback or Notchback especially in black
.
+1 on the 87z coupe or hatch version.Best overall design and more aggressive look imo.1st gen biased why of course!
If we're limited to sedans... then the only Cavalier I'd really want is the 2002 Z24 4 door. Or LS Sport version, for the folks south of the 49th.

I could not agree more, a nice 88z was right next to the iroc in my desire to own. almost had a 89 z vert as a first car but that got nixed by the parents as a choice. I still think that body with the v gurgle is the best they made. if i could get one and throw in a 3500 i would be happy as could be.
2001 ls sport with the lip kit or a 2nd gen z24
ALL black 1987 Z24 coupe
Blue with silver gfx 88-89 z24 (90 interior was to weird for me)
2002 LSS
altho i do love j bodys of any style with the exception of some 4 door base models....
just something about a phase 1 second gen that always gets my heart going, loved my 2nd gens, iv owned 1 88 and 3 89s all z24s some stick some auto, iv owned a 00 z24 and now an 02 LSS, nothings beats a 2.8 MPFI stick 89 z24 or an ecotec 5 speed 02 lss imo

I always hated the style of the 95-05 cars in general, but the 00-02 coupes are really starting to grow on me.
I've always liked the 88-90 cars, but the 1st gen is starting to grow on me too. There are only 2-3 in town and they are worn out base models, so I never really thought anything of them at all. Seeing some nice examples on here has completely changed my mind now though.

1995 Corsica and a bunch of trucks too...
vote here for the 89 z24. all day.
