What years did the 3rd gen get purple?
1995-99 i believe were the years for the 3rd gen .. and i think all of the second gens.. not sure abuot the 1st gens .
a friend and i recently purchased a purple 95 and another friend of mine has a 97, both z24's.
We all need somebody to believe in something...
i maybe picking up a 3rd gen its purple but it dosen't have the year lol i was thinking it was a 95 jbody thing
1,400 for it and its got 150,000 miles i just need a beater
I saw an avocado green one at work a few days ago and I swear it looked like stock paint, but I've never seen that color before.
I've seen my fair share of purple ones but they arnt really common.
purple (like mine) i think might have only been '95-'97. i know that the phase 2 and phase 3 3rd gens didn't come in purple.

yeah i was guessing 95-97 because the color came from 94 do you know if its Hawaiian orchid metallic

If you're talking about RPO code 84U (Hawaiian Orchid), it was apparently available from 1992 to 1997 only... but as far as second gens go, I've never seen a 93 in that colour, just the 94's. And lots of 95-97's...
EDIT: just checked the production numbers on www.compnine.com.. and there were no 97's built with the 84U RPO code... so I'd say it was 94-96 only on the J-body cars.

yeah the color started in 94 for the cavaliers same with the sunbirds

if im looking at the right number on my service label from my old sunfire, in '97 the paint code was 89U.
kinda hard to deny that my '97 sunfire was purple.
It wasnt purple, It was just grape flavored.
89U = Dark Mulberry Metallic. Different than the 84U.. though I'd be hard pressed to pick out which was which unless you had them side by side... Reading up on it, it was 97 and 98 for the 89U....
