Getting rid of the Cavalier
Thursday, May 14, 2009 9:22 AM
Hey all, after MANY years of having a blast with this car, it is time to get rid of it. Its needs a bit of work to get it road worthy again, and I don't have the time or money to fix it so I can drive it. Right now its been sitting in the driveway for a year or so, collecting dust. I don't just want to take it to a junk yard and get 50 bucks for it, and i don't want to sell it to someone because of the stuff wrong with it. Should I part it out, and then junk the shell, or should I just junk it and cut my loses???

part it out, sell the shell. I'm sure there's someone out there looking for a shell....and if not, get a few hundred bucks from the junk yard for it

Depending how bad it is, the wrecker you sell it to may fix it and sell it. Thats what my friends dad does.

So go the part it out route so you dont get screwed.

What are you asking for your suspension and is that a carbon fibre hood i see in your profile?

I don't practice what I preach, because I'm not the kind of person I'm preaching to.

for those who want pics, the car looks exactly like it does in my profile (and also in my sig), with the exception of the hood, which is a OEM style carbon fiber hood.

stbucky ; the suspension is kinda shot. They are the koni yellows, and the bolts on the bottom dropped out, so they bang around a bit. The sway bars are still in pretty good shape. The hood fits well, but there is a yellowed, faded spot in the middle, from the heat of the engine. The whole hood is kind of faded looking, but structually its solid.

Both of those things are to much of a PITA to ship, but if you want to pick them up, make an offer and we'll talk. I'm not looking to turn a profit on this car, just kinda to cut the losses and get rid of it. Its costing me money to keep it insured and what not.

Everything on the car will go for a really good price, but you have to come and take it off the car. I also have the stock steel hood, and the stock rims, as well as an IMCOMPLETE supercharger kit. all of the brackety is there, just missing some of the bolts and whatnot.

I would say 2000 with the 18's on it (the tires are pretty much brand new toyo fz4's), but if you don't want the rims i would say 1500.

The last time I drove it was in january or february, it started fine, got 10 miles down the road and lost all power. It would still idle, but it would stall if I tried to go anywhere. When I got it towed back to my house, we dropped it off the truck, and it started up fine and moved fine. I think its a problem with the fuel delivery, but I am not sure. It also needs new strut mounts in the back, theres a bit of rust on the right rear quarter panel right above the tire, and some on the door sill on the right. There is no radio, but all the wires are intact and have not been cut or spliced, so a stock radio would work fine, or an aftermarket. Probably could use a brake job at all 4, as well as an oil change and basic maintenance. Other then that I believe its in pretty decent shape.

It has a AEM warm air intake, koni shocks, eibach sportline springs, eibach anti-roll kit (front and rear sway bars), B&M short throw shifter, and a carbon fiber hood. Also with the car will go the incomplete supercharger (needs some nuts and bolts and injectors and whatnot), poly control arm bushings, light weight crank and alternator pulleys (not underdrive, just light), a triple gauge pod, and transmission poly mounts. I also think I can get rid of the rockford fosgate 600.1 amp and the q-logic box with 2 10's, one of which is ripped, but i have at least one extra in the garage (they are punch subs). It would be a bit extra if you want the stereo equipment also

this is a sad sad day for me Chris....we had too many good times in that car homey, and almost half consisted of you nearly getting arrested. I remember doing your motor mounts in my driveway haha. And you coming to Cobleskill after installing your new exhaust only to find that it rubbed the bumper and melted a hole in it. And of course who could forget the first NYJ's meet and getting the entire club pulled over in the middle of Syracuse...oops.

I may be interested in the 18's, they might help me pedal my car the f outta my yard too. I'd also love the springs, I have stockies for you if you need them. I need to get my RK coils off the car ASAP. Let me know, I'd love to take a jaunt down 90 and visit you in Albany. It's been like 7 years since I was down there!

if it comes down to you selling the parts, I want the upper RK mount, the blue HVAC knobs, and the triple gauge pod. I got stocks I can give you so you'd have a complete car too

whats this about tranny mounts?

also, are the front and rear sway bars not shippable for you?
