Hey, I have two quick questions. The first is more for any of my local calgarians, I am getting my windows tinted tommorow and am planning on going limo in the back and dark in the front but I was wondering how bad the tickets are? I know your not suppost to tint the fronts but I see it all the time so it must not be enforced THAT hard. Anyone get bugged for this? and my second question is does my stereo volume increase when I speed up? or am I just crazy because I swear when I go from about 60 or so up to 110 or 120 I am hearing a significant increase in the volume. I have a 99 z24 with a stock cd/radio in it. Thanks in advance
Look for a button on your radio that says avol. Auto volume adjusts your radios volume to compensate for road noise. If it bugs you switch it to low or turn it off.
AND SLOW THE %$@# DOWN!!!!!!!!!
There are a ton of people running around with there side windows tinted as you know. I dont recommend going that route simply because it gives the boys in blue a reason to pull you over, but I have a few friends with there side windows tinted and they dont seem to have a problem. Some will say you can just roll down your windows if you get pulled over, but in summer time I had a cop ask me to roll up my windows to see if they were tinted. Its totally up to you.

canada= kilometers per hour
and yeah, the stock radio does adjust volume when you accelerate/decelerate. put an aftermarket stereo in and you dont have it anymore.
Check out my build thread!
Even though many municipalities have laws regarding dark tinted glass, enforcement varies greatly (in the US as well). In my area, there's no noticeable enforcement and most tint shops will do whatever you want. I know many like the cool look, but as I motorcycle rider I've always hated it. You're taught in motorcycle safety classes everywhere to do your best to make eye contact with vehicle drivers, especially at intersections (controlled and otherwise). But with dark glass, it's sometimes difficult to tell if there's even a driver in the car, let alone whether or not he sees you. I've had more than one close call on my bikes related to my inability to tell for sure if a driver in a car with dark glass actually saw me. My point here isn't to diss dark glass as I know many like it. But, believe it or not, if your municipality has a law regarding it and you're not in compliance, you can be subject to liability in the event of an accident. Hardly a day goes by that you don't read of an accident involving a cyclist or pedestrian, and the visibility question always comes up. If you're in compliance, that's easier to defend. So, do your research and make your own decision, but be aware.
As for the speed compensating volume feature on the OEM radios, I actually like it. You can always disable it by turning it all the way down if you don't want to use it.

i'm glad you caught that he's from canado. i was going to call him a moron for saying his car hits 110-120mph.
as for the OP, i'm in california which is known to be the nazi state when it comes to any type of car modification. i've had the front windows tinted on every vehicle i've ever owned. ::knock on wood:: i've never been bothered about my windows. if i see a cop, i just roll the windows down real quick (i know that rolling in southern cali windows down is probably easier than most parts of canada--cold).
GO PATS!!!
