Have you seen this? Don't buy from Exxon/Mobil lol

Got this in an email:
Quote:

THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.

This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May!
It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!!

I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer, and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas.

It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.19 for regular unleaded in my town.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.

But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.

If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.
If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers.
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!

(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am . so trust me on this one.

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days !!!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you!
Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXX ON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.
You would think by now that people would have given up on these schemes...

Honestly, I'd be willing to try it. Why not, right?

It would work only if everyone or most people did it, and they held out till prices fell.

A lot better idea then no gas for a day I must say..but it would take a lot to spread the word and actually get people to do it..Most people won't be willing to go out of their way to go to another gas station esp. if you are on the way to work or school and it's on the way.

This makes me laugh. The reason is that where I live there are only two places that supply gasoline to gas staions. BP which only suplies BP stores with gas and every other gas station in my area gets there gas from the same place. Who knows BP might even get there gas from the same place and then put in the additives and then it goes on to the BP staion. Either way is is a joke.

If you want to help cut down gas prices use less gas. Most people are not willing to use less gas but they could still have an impact by using the ethanol blend or bio-diesil blend

well, im doing my part in this plan... i only buy gas from Kwik Trip and BP. can't think of a single time i've ever bought from Exxon or Mobile.

apparently one person can't do it on their own.

Do you guys seriously think that if less gas was used they would lower the prices? They have us conditioned and used to these prices. Dont ever for a minute think they are going to go down. Being in canada and having one of the largest oil depeosits in the world and we still pay $4.88/g, and we arent consumng anything for gas in comapred to the states. Face it we are stuck with it. Thats why i bought a motorbike this year. lol

This idea has been passed around for years. Useless. As said above, it's hard to even tell which gas stations use gas from which companies. People just need to use less gas so demand goes down. Study econ - supply and demand. All these stupid effing people who drive their Ford Excursions or Hummers, or other huge gas guzzlers every day. What really makes me mad is when they have this huge suburban that fits 15 people, and one person is driving it to go to the post office. We simply need to use less gas. No easy way around it.

Even if you convinced a number of people to do this and forced Exxon/Mobil to rethink their prices, they would simply lower their prices in temporary increments to get the customers back. While you may not be swayed by the difference, can you honestly see millions of your fellow Americans passing up $2.00 a gallon across the street while you pay $3.19?

If anything, this sounds like a great marketing scheme/rumor for those other companies to spread around.

Well wouldn't companies just take the hit for the one day, then raise the price of gas up the next day. They KNOW that eventually you are gonna have to come and get gas, so if you don't get it that day, then you are going to have to get it the next day, so why not bump the price up? Just a thought....

lol im sure they would be hurting if we didnt buy gas them from them. they brought in what, 80 billion or something like that in the 4th quater last year.

I saw this on facebook once lol. I don't think it will work, mainly because as soon as prices went down (if it did work), people would be like "Oh, gas prices are lower, I should get a full tank while it's cheaper!" therefore increasing the demand allowing them to charge what they did before and then some.

80 billion is profits . . . Profits being the problem word here, lol.

Gas companies are anally raping people left and right without even giving us the courtesy of a reach-around . . .

Theres nothing we can do its a great idea but... theyll still make a gabillion dollars somehow its gonna take laws to drop gas prices but thatll never happen since every politician has money in oil futures and other stuff.

compare the cost of our fuel prices over the years compards to the rest of the world

http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/international/gas1.html

the problem is at least for the a lot of the part in the US is that your minimum wage hasnt kept up with the growth in fuel/energy costs you can fight this as much as anyone wants, but its never going to work. Best way you can fight this is to buy stocks in the fuel/energy sector price per barrel goes up you gain in your portfolio you pay more at the pumps but account for it.

The inflation of gasoline is lower then the dollar has been in the last thirty years, including Canada.

People need to get the hell over it. Either pay the man, or don't drive!

not sure but it would seem logical
