Made a discovery on my auto cavalier today

I found if you hold the shifter between park and reverse that you can bypass the 4000 RPM rev limiter and free rev to redline. I am in no way condoning this or saying that it's safe. Do this at your own risk of possible damage to your car. I discovered this on a trailblazer forum and tried it out. It works on my sisters trailblazer, mothers equinox, and my cavalier. If you try this be very careful.

im just curious why you need to even rev the motor that high... thats just asking for trouble.

The motor should rev to redline in neutral, just not in park.

Motor does 4000 in park and neutral and no it will not do any harm to the motor.

So what's the point?I can drive 10mph,throw it in neutral and redline, doesn't mean anything.

Wow, imagine this..... a slip of the wrist and into rev. it goes at 4500+ rpm.!!!!! I would pay money to see that! LOL. Why the f@%$ would you want to do this,eh? Reving an unloaded engine will tell you nothing!!

Come on, you think reving that 2.2 is impressive? geez, go watch F&F again. Only loosers stay still and rev to show off. The only they show off is how dumb they are.

Good Find, i wonder why it is able to bypass the rev limiter with the trans between park and reverse?

but, Maybe a good idea to keep one foot on the brake... just incase

Sorry but thread like this just make us look like a bunch of loosers. If you think it's cool to rev a 2.2 between neutral and reverse on an auto, I will proudly wear a shirt saying "I'm with stupid".

And I bet you are the guys going on about the honda guys and all the other imports. Geez, grow up. Once you realise that a cavy is just another grocery getter and reving it to 6250 is plain stupid, you'll understand that post like yours and the OP and just useless.

Hint : The site was better than ever BEFORE YOU GOT HERE.

Also, you probably wonder why the "oldschool" guy and the V8 guys laugh at you. It's because of what the OP said. A weed wacker engine doesn't sound impressive and doesn't strike fear in anybody's mind.
