winter storage somewhat

Hey guys..... If I am leaving my car outside for the winter and not driving it should I buy a car cover for the car or will the snow not hurt the body too much. I live in Toronto so we do get a fair bit of snow here.

Yea I wouldn't bother...

Correct me if Im wrong but I would imagine a cover would/could have similar effects of a car "bra", if dirt is or gets under there it could cause a rubbing effect, thus scarring the paint to a degree.

a cover will trap moisture in between it and the car which is not good.

^^^ I heard the same and even heard of some freezing against the car. Car covers are meant to breath so will let moisture creep in. A nylon tarp may keep moisture away better but are abrasive against the car. I picked up one of those portable shelter/garages at Costco and it works great.

alot depends on what type of cover it is. It it is a reputable cover like Cover Craft, you could get away with using one. It has to be designed for winter use though.. I have one on my wifes car for the winter. It has been on there for 2 months now. I pulled it off the other day and it still looks like it did when we put it on. No moisture marks or anything. You have to make sure that it is completely clean though.

pass the j nice frickn name lmao

anyways, car cover in the winter outside is a bad idea. i put one on my 89 beretta over the winter once and when i got it up and running again that next spring it had TONS of scratches in the paint, most of which could not be taken out. its more so the wind flapping it around and stuff is what you gotta worry about.

Yes.... it will most likely scratch your paint.......

I really don't understand why people use them at all..... especially if it's only safe to store a car with a cover on it when it's indoors......

If it's in doors... why would it need a cover? .... sure it will keep dust off it... but woopdie doo.. like thats a big deal.... chances are that you'll wash it come spring anyway.

Yes I know that wiping dust off a car dry can scratch the paint too.... but all you have to do is hose it down good before you wash it.

This can be true to a point, BUT, a propelry made/fitting cover that does not "flap" and is secured properly can help protect during the winter months. The main thing you have to remember is that the vehicle has to be CLEAN before installing it.
