I didnt know some of the stuff was that heavy! the seats feel like 10lbs, but i cant really judge weight so.

Good info inspite of a repost!

well matt that just means that you are sooo strong that something that actually weighs 32lbs only feels like 10lbs to you! lol

that was a good find and interesting read!

I remember my car weighing in at around 2700lbs with me in the driver's seat. That was over a year ago. Since then I've done a lot of work on the car, so I'd love to weigh it again.

are they actually claiming that you gain HP by removing weight? i mean yeah you have a smaller weight to HP ratio...and it will allow you to go faster...but you dont actually GAIN any power.

most of those removals are obvious ones....carpet, headliner, metal braces, those would be good to know how much they weigh

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

thats right *flexes*

Too bad the seats im installing are heavier than the stockers.

Oh well, comfort/style is an ok compromise if youre not going for all out speed IMO.

importmodifications.com wrote:The Z24 weighs a respective 2787 lbs, dividing by the horsepower of 150, we get about 18.5 lbs/hp. So every 18.5 pounds of weight removed from the car should be equal to a 1 horsepower gain!

They are just making the comparison of approximating what you would gain if you were to increase the max hp by whatever amount. What they don't take into account though, is that weight reduction isn't a linear relation. So the actual power equivalent increases exponentially after every 18.5 lbs they remove. What I mean by this is that at the 2294 pounds they get the Z down to, the equivalence would be 15.3 lbs removed to simulate a 1 hp gain. So, they would actually have gained more than the equivalence of 26.64 hp.

well, it's not much more, but the equivalence of going from 2787 lbs to 2294 lbs is 29.2 hp.

"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.

There not fiquring in that 1 pound of unsprun weight equals about 1.5 pounds of sprung weight, or the effects of rotating mass either.

I did some weight reduction on my 2nd gen I used to have... People used too look at me funny when they got in the car and realized that thier feet where on bare metel and then realized the back seat was gone when they went to throw their coat back there. .... plus most people don't like what a car sounds like withought any insulation or sound deadening material in it....

I never fiqured out how much weight the car lost by removing all the stuff I did... but it was enough to definatly feel a difference...
