whats the difference between the 02 ecotecs and the 03 to 05 ecotecs?
from what i know the fuel rail set up and in late 2003 GM put a PCM in that only operates on closed loop. other then that i dont think there are any differences at all.
Silly ricer, useless wings are for penguins.
^^yup thats it
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
I believe the 03+ had a thiner top ring land on the pistons to help lower emisions (also making the pistons weaker and more prone to cracking off ring lands with a decent amount of boost
02 used fuel rail from the saturn ecotec l200 series with the siemens injectors (shorter metal cased injectors similar to the lsj stock injectors)
02's supposedly had weaker rods than the 03+.
Different FPRs since the rail was difference
and alot of 02's had timing chain issues
and like again im not 100% but i thought i read somewhere on the org that the 02s also had a slightly more aggressive cam set up. that you will have to look up.
thats about it. well that i can think of off the top of my head.
if your gonna swap to an 02 eco ... you're better off getting the 03 + eco or the LD9 (2.4 litre DOHC Twin Cam)... the 02 eco is based off the Saturn 2.2 litre Twin Cam engine whicn was rebadged to Ecotec in 2002. getting one that was made for a J is a rare engine and at that, its still plauged with problems that GM fixed in 2003 ...

you would have to hptune yourself cause the reflash would not work but yes

no need. Keep your 02 fuel rail, Pick up a set of used LSJ injectors. They fit right in our fuel rails no problem and click right into the harness.
as for the tune. yes the reflash would work on his car. Why wouldn't it?
The older EcoTec's also had the EGR "triangle" on the rear of the cylinder head as well.
