Yeah, color me not impressed on this one.
I'm detailing the wife's 03 sedan and notice something that shouldn't be there yet- rust.
I tend to be pretty anal when it comes to cleaning under the doors-I don't want salt or water there...
Creeping on both the pass. door and rear drivers door.
Granted, you can't expect much from a Cavalier, but at this rate it will rust out in a few years......
It goes to the dealership next week-Sounds like they may take care of it-
Hopefully they will take care of this...I'll update if they do. (crosses fingers)
If not, I guess I'll have to do it myself.....
Anybody else have this problem?
I dought that will and sadly its prety comon on the newer ones

Man, I hope not. Though I have seen a 04 coupe with rust on the doors and trunk-but the guy doesn't even wash the car.....
At this rate they'll rust worse than the 2nd gens (Yeah, got one of those too)
I guess I should be happy my 04 hasn't seen salt...yet.
my 03 is still in good condition with rust. haven't seen any yet (cross fingers) but i doubt i'll see much of that living in phoenix
Silly ricer, useless wings are for penguins.
wow my 98 and 97 both dont have any rust whatsoever. wtf did they do to the 03+'s?

I do see rust on the pre 00s...
But it seems like the 2000 + I see rust....faster?
Very strange.....
Got rust in the trunk a little. Oh well just an excuse to fit a fuel cell in there.

Or a wing, or a new trunk......
When I had my cav, I had bought it brand new in 02. In 04, both quarter panels were so rusted out that they had to be replaced. The bottoms of the doors had to be sanded down, and replaced. Underneath was also getting pretty bad as well. I couldn't believe that in 2 years you could literally hear the car rust

I've got a slight bit developing under the gas door on my 99. I've neglected it for longer than I should have. Hopefully I can get a chance to tend to it this spring before its too late.
It's just the harsh reality of living in an area that salts the roads during winter. I actually think that somehow car companies pay to keep salt on the roads... much like how the keep the nipple twisted on the oil addiction.
same thing has been happening to my 03
no rust yet here (04). I also wash it and spray down the jambs and @!#$ usally bi-weekly, even in the winter. So hopefully she stays rust free. Even the undercarriage is spotless... And I live in the rust belt.

My '02 and Taetsch's '02 both have rust in the same spot...... passenger side, just behind the door opening, right above the side skirt. Both are bubbling up from under the paint. I guess he checked at his work, and they wont cover it under the "rust protection" warrenty because the state we live in uses salt on the roads...... F'n BS if you ask me.

Yup.. that's where mine started as well.. It bubbled really bad, then eventually ate holes in sections of it.. I wish I had pics of it still, it was pretty unbelievable..

I wonder if that is in all the rustbelt states...
I've got no rust problems with my '98...

Just do it before the snow...I get a feeling it's going to be a snowy winter....
When we had our Sunfire it was spotless, but we live far from the oceans. My beretta is a farm car, so it has a bit of rust to it (on the front wheel wells). The only way our cars could get too rusty is either age, or getting infected by all the newfie cars.
How can you tell you're in Alberta? Just look for all the newfies.

my car is starting to show the rust color under the doors, but thats cause Steve drove it all last winter
hopefully i can afford to have it taken car of this winter so i dont have to worry about it anymore
yea thats what i was wondering as well. I found a few rust spots on my 02. My 97 cav didnt have any rust what so ever.
96 with no rust at all.........wonder if they cheapened out on the gauge metal on the newer models
