I just got my last issue of SCC (didn't renew my subscription). On page 34 there a crap load of people trash talking J-bodies and they even took a shot at us if you can believe it. Anyone know who's cavy is in the picture? Maybee someone else with a scanner can post a pic.
After all the trash talking the editors actually wrote this:
"As you may have noticed, Adam and David's locations have been hidden to protect them from our leagion of rabid J-body readers. There'll be no death threats or retaliatory beatings on my watch. -JL"

I just thought it was funny. SCC said they would do a J-body project, and we haven't heard anything about them even looking for a car since. Now all we're seeing is people mailing in telling them not to.
I just got a kick out of it, and fiqured y'all would to. The mag has another set of EVO's on the cover again, you'd think they would get tired of writing about them by now.
how can they get tired of writing about Evos.. its be one of the main vehicles in the last 2 fast and furious movies
nothing new. right after the issues with the J-Body readers telling them to do a J project, they're forums already had numerous people saying they shouldn't and badmouthing the J.

one of the biggest reasons i let my SCC subscription expire is the fact that if i read one more article on a skyline or evo my head will explode, and dont even get me started on the civic...they are so tired...

That was nothing more than a joke to them, open your eyes, pretend you're in a better car and look down at the j-body from those eyes. Sure our community is awesome, cars aren't too shabby....but come on now, this is SCC not build a budget tuner....a domestic one at that.
You also have to look at the cars those reader's mentioned, there are way more half-assed Cavaliers roaming the streets versus the quality you see on these forums. Think of that jackass in your hometown in his Cav acting hard with an unpainted bodykit and a gigantic wing with no performance mods besides an obnoxious fart can............................and you see what the majority sees out there.
I've subscribed for 2 years now, love the articles, regardless if they hate my platform or not it's a great magazine with great info and editorials versus the typical tuner mags you see today.
...oh and as for the "crapload" there were 2 people's submissions that they published................and the Cav pictured was a white Cav with the TRD kit/2k Toyos/dual cans, I'm going to guess Joe Kenefic's? car (believe that was the guy whom had owned it)....but the SCC plate through me off. You can see in the pic that it is in fact LHD though, so not an authentic Toyota Cav leaving me thinking it's his car as I've never seen another one like such.

I don't care what anyone else thinks about our J's, have had nothing but complements on mine. I love it when I get asked "what kind of car is that?" then the look on their face when I tell them. No matter what you drive someone out there will talk smack, just part of the game. Let them write and read about cars with amazing stickers and wings, I'm sticking with my J.

I agree with you guys. There actually is a primerd up (2 colors) cavy in town with an unpainted body kit, and nothing but a fart can where I live....I never really thought about it that way...ya have a point.
To be honest, I really don't care anymore, let them do what ever they wan't. Thats why I let my subscription run out and this was my last issue. I'm tired of reading about evo's too. The thing is... SCC actually did used to be a "build a budget tuner" magazine, but those days are gone.
Like I said...I really don't care what they do anymore, I just thought it was funny that they called us rabid and insinuated that we'd show up at those guys houses and beat the crap out of them. I got a laugh out of it and thought most people here would too.
Besides, it's kinda fun having most people think our cars are crap... if everyone knew what my car can actually do or whats it's capable of, it would take a lot of fun out of driving it. FTW

ive never been one to think my car was the best, hell its practically stock. i can appreciate a nice car, and i hope the owner can appreciate mine.
ive never really been a fan of SCC or other mags in the same type of category like PAS. i would rather read road and track. they seem less biased at those magazines about their vehicle preference.
and on a side note... if you have to hide your adress out of fear that you think some one will come jump you because you made fun of their car, then maybe you need to think about that for a second.
i hope they read this and realize that by trash talking the type of car i drive, i wont even look at the cover anymore in the store.

Of my five years owning a cavalier i have come to accept the fact that nobody likes them...Still don't care what those people think.
Think that build might be put to rest. They are only gonna listen to so much wineing before, like a parent, they give in to just get some peace and quiet.
I'm not sure where scc is going to go with this, but in the mean time I'll just do what I do when some one yells "that car's a piece of crap" to me from the sidewalk when I'm driving to work.... I'll just sit back, shake my head, and laugh.

The problem was already mentioned....... there are far more beat up riced to hell J-bodies out there than there are nice ones.......... I may see 2-3 nice j-bodies on the road every few months.......... everything else is crap
Whats funny though is the cars they do preach about and act like are gods hot rods......... are cars ive owned at the autocross track......... and before anyone throws the bs flag.... ill give you a link with all the numbers.
Cavaliers have and always will be completely underrated...... yeah they arent the best built and they are cheap.... but they are very underrated in terms of the potential they have
