End of the road for DOOMIE aka Scrufdog's ride.

yeahi dont really have the time to be on here or around here much anymore, but figured this post would be worthy considering all the time scruf , i and other "old heads" have put into this site...

but as of today, the countdown begins on how many days it takes till doomie get to its finally place i guess. (guesses anyone....anyone?)

actually nothing is wrong with the car, fuel cell still has gas, engine would still start on the first crank.......well till we ripped the MSD out today.

just really needed an oil change and prob trans fluid for good measure....

but i guess its "da yard" for the car. or whatever they do

for all the newbs who might be a bit in the dark, Doomie aka the car in question was one of the first documented 2.2's and cavaliers as a whole to run in the 13's (circa late 90's early 2000's) -13.92 @ 97mph if i remember right..... (YES EVEN AMONG THE 2.3L's and 2.4L's), power plant was an '87 head, '91 block, and a '93 intake plenum all mated together with some nitrous. insterest in the full specs, go here: http://cavy.scrufdog.com/mycav.html

see back in the day there weren't companies like car custom parts and Karo (VERY good place, F'n excellent ! ), Rsm Racing( is that still around?) and all these legit companies or even the fly by night ones.... there was literally NO support. Rksport at most sold an intake and universal guages.....and a crapload of body panneling. so yea, he among others were the pioneers for alot of the stuff you get into today.

if you dont remember, people like Bo Corbin, Genertec Racing, and Rick King, Rksport message board (yea they had one) VS JBO circa 98-99, or even when this was a mailing list....if none of those things rings a bell, then you prob werent in the above described era.....

it (the car, doomie) was also pretty well known for the burnout at one of the bashes near the start of doing this burnout, rear wheels fully locked http://cavy.scrufdog.com/images/burnout.avi

well not to draw it out..... last pics.... appropriately next to his new ride.....

never was the prettiest car, but then again, he really didnt build it (in this stage, at least) for a show car. car weighed around 2300lbs gutted. single seated. no a/c, ratchet shifter, direct port nitrous, etc. just goes to show if you put in work, you can get results. doesnt really take the 10's and 20's G's you see people stuffin in cars these days and still running mid 14's, and actually get pissed......

but like said, last pics, prob will only be at my house a few more days before its gone.... spent the last 3-4 years here. no takers. but not bad for scruf's first car, and almost 12 years later to the exact date.... tags finally removed.

new guys will prob be like "W hiskey T ango F oxtrot!?", as per usual JBO, someone will talk crap....., and maybe some old heads might become a bit nostalgic of days passed.

most of us dont really check the emails on this site much, i know he hasnt really been around much being on the road and away.

but worse comes to worse, outside of email, i know he's on myspace, almost everyone is.....

car's been up for sale for a few years now, theres been people to write and want it, but no one has ever really followed through. i know mainly cause whenever he went out of town, he'd give me a headsup on who was comming by to either "allegedly buy" the car or take a look. so far, no one has shown....theres always a way to get in contact with peeps...

I was not aware that he was on myspace... I also have no money right now since I'm fronting the money for my group purchase on my pulleys.

Oh damn, I thought that car was long gone!!!! Glad to see it's still around, sortof...

I remember way back when the .org had maybe 2K members, Genertec Racing Development was the hot place for J's, a turbo'd J was unheard of, and thought impossible by many. Also, there was the old 2nd gen vs. 3rd gen flame wars, and the first gens were few and far between. The only ones I can recall were Scruff's ride, Wes's BadZ24, and my 85 Cavy sedan. Dave was the only GOD, (and still is ) the heated debates on the 3rd gen facelifts, (the FIRST one, in 2000, LOL) the eventual beginning ofthe 2.4 vs. Ecotec flame wars, and so on.

Currently #4 in Ecotec Forced Induction horsepower ratings. 505.8 WHP 414WTQ!!!
Currently 3rd quickest Ecotec on the .org - 10.949 @ 131.50 MPH!!!

actually LD9, i replied twice to your last emails. Both times I got a bounce back saying the mailbox was full. Dunno....

Anyway, yeah. Doomie is done, the convertible is too. Giving the Z24 to a buddy of mine. Owning 4 vehicles gets annoying when you only drive 2 of them...(truck and cbr).

Dont know where it will end up specifically, gonna get towed by whoever wants to tow a car with no plates.

Thanks everyone for good words towards the car. It was a fun project while it lasted.

it's about time she went to car heaven. how many people do you think are going to send you messages in a month or two asking you if you still have the car?

and all i can say is *sniffles* you're finally growing past the Js. good for you, hon...i'm proud of you. get rid of the excess vehicles and concentrate on the ones you use the most (and have the most fun with). get another vert when you have a garage to keep it in.

I remember that car...

Makes me miss my first gen....

Sadly, I'm looking for more of a cruiser than a racer.....

She was a great car....

No harm done. You just never got paid $700 for your car.
