It saddens me to have to post such a negative post about a member who was once regarded extremely well on this webpage, but after YEARS of waiting, I am sick of listening to hollow promises.
I have not been active on the boards lately as I have slowed down modifying my car etc, but some people may remember when I was around. I got in contact with Ben about creating some custom pieces in Carbon Fiber for my car to give it that 1 of a kind look before it became the huge craze.
We exchanged multiple emails and agreed on prices and I sent the payments in full and the pieces I wanted done, including:
Dash pad, glove box, arm rest, console, and fuse pannel cover. I expected the work to take some time, and never really received updates without asking for them. After a few times of questioning, I finally got word back that he was finishing up some other jobs for people and that he would be working on mine shortly, at this point were about 6 months out from me sending him money and parts. I acknowledged this and he said he would begin work on the parts in the next few weeks. Again a couple months later I asked for a progress check, he said the first shot at the dash did not turn out as it bubbled and he did not want to send out a piece which he was not happy with.... fair enough I wanted it to look good.
By the time he got around to "attempting a second time" we were almost a year after I had sent him money and parts. I still wanted my parts and allowed him the time to retry. Time goes on again and I contact him later, he says he has had a couple more failed attempts and is going to give it 1 last shot, and if it did not turn out he was going to refund my money because of the cost of his materials. Again I emailed him later, and find out that it failed, and that he would be issuing me a refund... great I am out parts, but whatever at this point in time... I will take my money and live without this work being done.
He asked for me to give him some time to get the money around (as I still have a Paypal record of my payment to him) on 10/9/06, I contact him 2 months later to ask where my refund is, to get an excuse of his daily drivers transmission going out and now he had to replace that, he said that his student loans would come in next month and he would hopefully be able to get my refund to me next month.
I send him my updated information for paypal and my address if he wanted to send a check... no response... he then says that he is trying to sell his cavy (Feb 07) and I have not heard from him since then. I have written multiple emails and asked what the deal was, but have no more communication back from him.
I did not want to have to post this but after over 2 years, the payment was dated may 20, 05... I figured something needs to be said.
Ben if you read this, get in touch with me because I want my refund. If anyone has a current email forhim I would also appreciate that

sorry its taken as long as it has. yes its my fault, and yes you will get your money. i owe you and two others for the same type of problem. but i gave up on fixing the interior stuff, as you noted, last october. so that means its been roughly 8 months that youve been waiting for your refund. i wish i could say things had been working better for me, but i lost my job in december (yes....been looking and trying to get another one, but i live in WV and its an economically depressed area) and am finishing school. but none of that is your problem and you shouldnt have to put up with it. unfortunately you cant squeeze blood from a turnip, as the saying goes, and there isnt much else i can do right now.
have i been trying to get your money in other ways? hell, yeah! ive sold everything i can off of my car....and even tried to sell the car!! but unfortunately no one way buying. the few things i have been able to sell have gone to rent/utilities/food. not a single dime has been used for anything other than my living.
will you get your money? hell, yeah! ive never ripped a single person off on here and ive been around for 6+ years, and counting the biz ive had hundreds and hundreds of transactions.
does that make you feel any better? no, probably not. but again, all i can do or say is that, yes, you will get a refund.
is there anything else i can do right now? not that i know of...but i am open to suggestions. if you can finish my degree, find me a job, or a buyer for the cav, then by all means im let me know.
other than that, feel free to IM me...my s/n hasnt changed since i signed up for it. and i know i havent had any messages from you in a year or more, as my program keeps a log of them.
I understand things get tough etc , but I have sent email after email after email and not gotten a response from you. Yes I do want my money back asap... but I would appreciate not being left outta the loop, like you disappeared on me completely.
The last email you sent me was on Feb 5, and had not responded to anything after that. I just hate prying for information feel as its poor business practice

I must say that I thought Ben was a good honest guy for a while. And I don't question his honesty or integrity THAT bad now... but come on now, when you realize you cannot complete the work, you send him his parts and his money. AT LEAST the money anyway. Whether the car blew up, transmission fell out, you owe a million dollars for school or whatever...HIS MONEY is not yours to do with as you please, no matter what personal situations you have. You would be in the same situations, just without someone elses money to take advantage of to help you through your rought times. There is no excuse. Period.
On the other hand....you have other fingers.
