I'm sure there are alot of avid tuners on this site... that can lend a hand or a bit of knowledge to just about any subject under a j-body hood... or most other places for that matter... but I also can sense that most of us... I'm guilty also... only visit but a few forums on a daily basis and that's about it... Now I know that many questions in the maintenance forum for example get asked... but are rarely answered and with all this knowledge here we should have more traffic flow to the neglected forums... I'm not bicthing or complaining about anything... just enlightening people on visiting some of the other lesser known forums to help out your fellow j-body community... also if anyone wants to add anything feel free!
one thing i seen on the DSM forums i dont see here is a good FAQ on installs/mods etc if ya want to check out what i am talkin about
*clicky* oh and not to say we dont have the info here but it is a bish to get ahold of it cause most is nver put in a sticky
we need a "HOW-TO" forum....i used to have a tuned plymouth breeze (ie: dodge stratus and chrysler cirrus, same base model and everything) and was part of stratusphere.org and they have a very impressive forum. i agree with boosted4fun a FAQ would be great but we really should consider a "how-to" forum which provides step-by-step instructions on installs. stratusphere also had a lighting section for neons, l.e.d.'s and etc......just a thought but take a gander at stratusphere for some ideas. i am sure there are many other forums as well but i am most familiar with the sphere
SPHERE
ok scratch that...stratusphere.net.....haha my bad
SPHERE!
lol yeah i was there for a short period when i had my 97 stratus.. this is a great site here but sucks u have to sift threw post after post of crap to find a helpful how to
ok so in other words we got the section jsut needs one hell of a revamp...
i agree, i come on everyday, but there are very limited forums i check.
guess ill try and change that
i visit the majority of the forums w/ the exception of about 4 or 5 of them. i go to the maintaince forum and i try to help if i know what the problem is. to me id rather not post then give out wrong info on trying to fix a problem
I go to most of the forums as well, and if I can help I try my best to answer the questions. However if a question arises Im not sure of I tend not to answer, since I dont want to give bad advice.
well since all i do is putt around on here all day almost every day i may try to get ahold of some faq's and put em all together... might as well do somethign constructive

Last I heard, Lenko is heading up keeping that updated...
BINGO. Thanks for posting that.
The FAQ has been discussed at some length previously. See
this post for pretty much everything you need to know. The things on the 'drawing board' should be knocked out soon. That should help tremendously in making the information easier to find.
If you can contribute anything at all to the FAQ, and that includes things like sorting through the forums to compile information, please email it to Lenko or myself. We most definitely need more people to help build the FAQ.

"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about
the former." - Albert Einstein
There's the FAQ section... which yes, I help contribute to... and when I come across really great posts (that some people think should be sticky's), I put them in the FAQ instead. The trick is getting people INTO the FAQ first and reading what's there... instead of posting the same questions over and over....
Then there's the Library section... which is for the How To's... which I know is somewhere on Dave's list of "To Do's"
There some great how-to articles in the forums that really should be set up and put in the Library.
there are 3 how to's on seat brackets.. then the one on the led in the 95-99 cluster..hrm in the one forum has a great how to on the eco engine in a 3rd gen.. all i cna think of atm...
Are you kidding me, it is hard to help half the god damn people on here. For one people dont post any information about the problem.
Example
my car stalls, can anyone help.
Almost all the time no one says when it happens, when it started to happen, does it happen all the time, when the car is cold or hot, or doesnt matter. Are you having any other problems, what work has been done recently.
No one here post any info about the problem.
Than we get really stupid people asking some really stupid @!#$. Like how do you make your fan come on at a lower temp. We have someone else trying to retro fit a new fuel pump into a old tank. We have another second guessing what weight of oil to use.
Than we get people, yeah umm this went bad, how hard to replace it. Well for me doing a timing chain is easy, to others it would be very hard to do.
People need to get real, and not expect us to hold their hand through everything.
If someone has a legit question I will help you, but if it BS or whatever I skip right past it.

this is why the how to part would help.. ppl dont want to sift through 500 post to get one that half explains something.. ya some may soudn retarded to ya.. but you also got to remember you got to start somewhere and learn somehow... and the easier the info is provided with out there the less repeated questions to come up and alot more ppl not feeling liek crap cause they dont know something that someone else finds simple...
I try to go to other forums and help people some. Some people I feel are helpless. Also I get tired of wasting my posts trying to help people who do not listen. If we had more post a month maybe, but I'm not going premium just to help all these newbie's.
As for the FAQ's well I think there is no hope for them. We have almost always had them, and truly they have always sucked. Same for the sticky's. I hate sticky's they make a forum look crappy, most of the info is 1 or 2 person's opinion, and not always the truth, or 1 side of it.

or they wont search for it at all... i've seen it happen to many times. newbs these days are very lazy in searching for their answers. they'd rather just make a new post instead of taking the 2 minutes to search and finding what they need.
Check out my build thread!
I have added some stuff to the FAQ and Dave was pretty quick to getting it up and posted. Lenko is the man when it comes to knowledge of Jbodys. However, when anybody comes on here and has a problem or a question the first thing they do is post it which is ok I guess. Some people forget that this is a forum but please to a search first. If you don't find it then, then post it. I'll try to find it for you.
Just remember, I've been her seince 2002 and in that time, I have seen almost every question asked. Jbody's have beena round seince 1983. I can bet your not the first person with a problem on your car.

Biggest part of the problem right there. It's not that the information isn't there and easily accessable. It's just that most of the people here are too lazy to actually look for it. I almost always find what I am looking for just by doing a search. What is pathetic to me is the number of people making new threads to ask something that is already fully explained in a sticky at the top of the page.
Like what is Toyota Cavalier or My car won't start.
Oh, and let's not forget the 2.2L vs 2.4L thread. Always wince at those.
Another one that I had thought about is the how to install a sway bar by lil bill. It has the information on how to install but just needs someone else to rehost the pics that also show how to do so. Is there anyway that someone could do that as well. I might be able to do one later down the road once I get my addco sway bar but for right now I didnt have my camera working when I installed my first sway bar. Also should I post a how to for installing a GM strut tower brace on a non equipped cavalier?

I would like to point out something here on the search options you cant find the correct answer to somebody question all the time. And you guys wonder why newbies post their questions when they take time to search then they come up emply handed. then we get these jerks telling the newbies to search when try to search a answer its not there.
