I was looking at my new HCI magazine, and they were giving MAD props to the ecotec and the GM Teams. They were talking about how Jason Whitfield (i believe was his name) had gotten his "Daily Driver" up to AND over 1000whp. Thats just damn impressive! The car flies down the track in 9 sec 1/4 passes!
They supposively put the car together using ALL off the shelf parts. Which makes it even more impressive! I'll stop talking and give you the link now.
This Makes me want to give up my LD9 and drop in an ecotec!

Yeah, it's been known. I'm kinda surprised none of our members have been trying to reach those numbers but then again it gets expensive really fast.

1 - Not a Daily Driver
2 - Not really a off the shelf engine build if you really think about it. Sure you can buy all the parts from GM Racing but there is more to it than that.... Engine was fully built and shipped to them along with the 4T65 transmission to be installed in the car.
Over all its a good looking car, alot of money was put into that engine from GM along with the transmission.... to be honest with you, I would guess over 50,000$ was invested in the engine / tranny setup....
its a nice car, lots of money invested. but from what i heard the car is street legal. the ecotec is the new small block of the future for gm. the "gen 2" ecotec in the solstice gxp and will be in the 08 cobalt ss is a much better engine and internals are good to 350+hp out of the factory. dam impressive for a 4 cylinder.
I want to share something with you - the three sentences that will get you through life. Number one, 'cover for me', Number two, 'oh, good idea, boss', Number three, 'it was like that when I got here.'

Cas can not be street legal in the state of California.
Yes, there is to an extent that the parts did not come off the shelf. I bet if you offered GM 50,000$ they'd be happy to give you that engine and tranny setup. So, there for that department of the car would be concidered "off the shelf parts" i suppose??? It's an overall sweet ride. I couldn't imagine running 9 sec 1/4 miles passes in my J-body, thats just friggin nuts! I think my next car is going to be something with the ecotec though. I like the power the ecotec guru's are making and the ecotec's seem not to break a much as us LD9 gurus cars. If anything, i give GM a thumbs up on this motor. I can't really say i give them a thumbs up for a whole lot else on our cars....well, except for the Blowers!

i just like how they dident try to make the car lighter in any way...still has full interior and the roll bar is insain...in the article it said somehting about they were so confident it was gnna run fast that they dident care about wieght..haha
