Okay, so my question is this:
Why are cavi's, sunfires/ birds/ etc. called J-Body's? Where did the name come from?
Excuse my stupidity, but I honestly don't know the answer to this question.
it's a code name for the platform the car is built on... there's several different platforms: j-body, f-body, n-body, y-body.
gm classify's all thier cars by a platform. Obviosly you know j-body, corvettes ar Y-body, cobalt is delta, camaro and firebrid are F, Nova is X, and so on
I may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
The 4th digit in every Cavalier, Sunfire, Sunbird, J2000, Firenza, Cimarron or SkyHawk is the letter "J".
Ah ha. I understand now... Cool.
Thanks for the explination.
The letter code is also handy if you stare at tons of shop manuals each day.
