Alright as everyone who went knows the "Rain or Shine" JCO Bash was "Rained out". Whats the deal with that? I'm sittin in my car for a few minutes next thing I know everyones leaving, we go up and ask the guy whats goin on and he says its raining shows done. GREAT. I'm really glad I paid $30 to race, didn't get to. $35 all together to enter the show, didn't even get my car judged. and no one won anything....i don't get it. Why didn't they just finish the show. It says rain or shine, I knew it would rain today but I went anyways. I came from Buffalo NY drove over 3 hours to get there for a 1/2hr car show, that was pointless and really expensive. I spent the ENTIRE day before washing, waxing, vaccuuming, doing everything, and for what? nothing. Im not blaming the rain at all here. The JCO Bash was terribly organized, and I want my money BACK.
wow. that sucks man. yea, i read that it was rained out on JCO.
well, i saw a ton of photos on the forums. was that just prior to the rain?
im waiting on a reply from ryan prior to joining. i hope he replies soon.
i would have been mad as hell if i had gone through what you had to.
sorry man.

Anyhow....

Last time I checked that ended back in 2004
well if you really want to get technical... the bash ended back in 2001... because to me.. it just went downhill
just my opinion tho....
yea that does suck man im surprised they cancelled it
are you coming to the GM bash in aug?
They cancelled the show???
I was only there to race and have some fun so when the downpour came, we just left because we had a bbq planned anyway.
I wouldn't have liked to talk to more people there, but once the rain came that was about the end of it. Sorry to anyone I didn't run into.
How can they not hand out awards and stuff though?? Was there going to be a raffle this year? What happened to that stuff?
Really, if they cancelled the show then I guess people are entitled to their money back. But since they've still gotta pay for the track, I wonder who would take the loss?
I paid my $30 for the track, and wouldn't expect that back. That goes to the people at Sparta.
I just don't understand why I had to pay $65 for NOTHING! Didn't get to race or have my car judged in the show. It was the biggest waste of 2 days and alot of money, and I either wanna get in free for next years bash, or my money back. Im glad other people agree, cuz if you didn't get to race and paid for it, and paid for the show and didn't even get your car judged, you should want your money back!
wow glad i didnt make that trip...... wat a bunch of f*cking pussies... it rains, so cancel a bash show...ghey

sold.. goin euro this time round
Wow.
Well, this was the first time I attended the JCO Bash and really my first time in Canada in years. Yes, it did rain, and that sucked for sure. But, I was simply along for the ride at the track and many people just started leaving, regardless of asking, from what I saw.
Either way, I thought it was a good time and you cant predict weather. It is just too bad that the weather and communication didnt line-up well, but I just hate it when people get online and start calling names and complaining. It just doesnt help what being a part of these events is.
There was awards and the raffle back at the host hotel. If this wasnt well communicated, that is a bummer for sure. I dunno, its just a disappointing to read the above comments.

WoW that is very $hity about the rain and what you guys are talking about that happened at the show. Boy we where thinking about coming up to it this year from down here in Orlando Florida. We would have been so Pissed Off we showed up and the show was called off. Well I hope they try to make up for the show by doing another one or something this year.
Wow... sounds like people need to get their facts straight before they respond...
Nobody canceled anything. The first rain shower came through and we all just went for cover. Then after it passed we all got out and continued having fun. Then the next rain shower came and we all went scrambling again. After no sign of letting up for about a half hour, including some nice lightning, people started leaving. Car after car started heading toward the exit. I was sitting in a car with Borgs when Corby came by and they started talking about what to do. The majority of the people had left at this point, so they decided to meet back at the hotel. Once we got back to the hotel, the lot was packed. The execs held a quick meeting to decide how to proceed. The majority of the cars had already been judged at the track, so they decided to finish whom ever had came back to the hotel and hand out awards based on who had gotten judged. It was out of their control if the people had left. They handed out racing awards based on the fastest 3 qualifiers if I recall correctly. The raffle was also held at the hotel.
Based on the situation, I think they did the best they could to finish up the event. Again, they can not control who left because it was raining.
I still had an absolute blast, love hanging out with everyone. Next year, possibly need a contingency plan for rain ahead of time. But you know what they say about hind-sight.

I dunno I'm thinking to myself that EVERYONE knew well in advance there was a very strong possibilty of bad weather and should have planned for it ahead of time. Let everyone know at the time they register for the show what would happen if and when the rains came, whether to stay at the track or go meet back at the hotel. Reading posted comments on the different message boards there are a lot of upset people who got screwed out of the raffle and whatnot because nobody told them about the continuing events at the host hotel. If this had been set up PRIOR to the event starting it would have made things much smoother for everyone involved. It rings a very familiar tune to the 03 show at Cayuga where the show ended and nobody knew when and where the awards ceremony was taking place, at the hotel or the drive-in (that nobody knew how to find) and there were a lot of upset people then too.
As most have posted here said, I'm also glad I didn't make the trek out this year and have to go through all that crap.

They came on the loud speaker and announced that the show was "CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN," yet its a Rain or Shine event???
Just because some one the people met at the hotel, some of us who didn't have rooms at the hotel weren't even informed about finishing the show there or anything like that. I was basically told i was sh*t outta luck and to go home. yes, basically just to f*ck off. Im sorry I wasted my money on such a bad organized event.
Wow, if one of the actual event coordinators spoke to you like that, I would definitely take that up with the JCO for the fact that you were mistreated. I'd say contact the JCO guys directly if that actually happened, cause that is not right. I would be shocked if one of them actually treated or spoke to you that way, because that just doesnt seem like their nature in the first place.
Wow , Bill. I clearly remember them handing out maps to the drive in for the award ceremony back in '03. And nobody got screwed out of any of the raflle. THEY LEFT ON THEIR OWN ACCORD. Nobody told them to leave. The JCO officials did not leave when it started to rain, the people did. You weren't even there for christ sake.
And Mark, you may have heard the racing was cancelled due to rain, but that was the track announcer. No JCO official made any such announcement. Again, who told you it was canceled? What was his name? What did he look like? There isn't a single damn JCO Exec that would have said anything remotely close to what you are accusing them of. If you want to be pissed because it rained and you spent all that time, fine. But don't try an make it sound like they purposely tried to screw you.

I already said, im not at all pissed about the rain. I woulda stayed all day in the rain I could care less. I'm standing with my friends around our cars and I don't know who it was, but they get on the mic and say something along these lines...
"well, obviously its raining and its not going to stop so the show is cancelled"
So I look around for some orange shirts or the sign-up tent. The tent is gone. WTF? says I. Then I find one guy who was a judge and the dude basically just tells us its raining tough luck. he says a guy drove 37 hours and had a great time so dont complain to me. Nobody informed me or gave me anything saying there was more things going on at the hotel. I wasted alot of money, time, gas, for nothing at all. So its not the rain im pissed about. Its the people who ran the JCO Bash, if you could even say they did.
Well, obviously you just want to keep talking out of your ass... I'll let you. Take care now, bye bye then...

Exactly, they should've told everyone what would happen if it decided to rain. Not everyone was going back to the host hotel. Alot of us didnt stay at the hotel. I deffinitly would have stayed and then went to the hotel IF i was informed about it. I was not.

We walked around looking for "JCO officials" and only wound up finding one guy, a judge, who told me he doesn't know where they are and that they probably left already. Then went on to basically say "go home".

Seems to me that your the only one talking out of your ass. Steve is making rationalize points and all you can say is NANA YOUR WRONG AND IM RIGHT!
Either way im glad i didnt go, i knew it was gunna rain and i didnt wanna make the 5 hour drive for that
Well, I was sitting in a red Matrix with the VP when the Pres. walked up. Again, by this time, the majority of the people had left. There was never an official JCO decision to cancel anything. People left on their own. Like everyone else, the JCO people put stuff inside the Suburban to keep it as dry as possible. But they did not leave. There was never a decision to continue things at the Hotel until we got back to the hotel and saw most of the people were there. Then they held a meeting to decide.
What were they supposed to do? Sit around the track and hope people came back?

They should've made a decision on what to do if it rained BEFORE the bash. I mean, seriously thats just poor organization. You can stick up for your buds all you want here Ian but your the only one talking out ur ass.

Sounds pretty rational to me.
