well I just picked up my car from high rev motorsports last weekend with a fresh motor and some other goodies on it. The car runs like a champ. Well tonight, i was just cruising around town putting some miles on the new motor and I went to shift into second at about 3 k. To my suprise the shifter went loose and suddenly, I had nothing but 3rd gear. Well after drivig this car for 8 days of the last 13 months.... I will be repairing it and saying goodbye to everyone i've met and befriended on here over the years. I'm going to be trading it in for hopefully a volkswagen tdi beetle in the near future. Good bye to everyone. I will check in periodically and give advice when i have some to give. Look for some cheap things in the classifieds soon.
This months projects: Completion and Installation of Homemade Turbo System, Brakes, Fiberglass sparetire enlcosure and amp rack.
you mean highrev is still around ???
good luck with the diesel beetle
So just because the shifter cable broke on you, your going to give up on your car and drive a BEETLE around? TDi or not its still a BEETLE.
Oh well have fun with the new car.
Yea it sounds like the shifter cable broke and it could take like what, an hour to fix?

Yeah, about an hour. Not too hard to do actually. Why you giving up so soon?
Especially after spending all that money?? That's kind of silly, don't you think???

actually. i swapped my shifter cables out in about 20 mins
yeah really...especially to trade it in for a volkswagen. Terribile terrible reports on reliability. There was an article on the carconnection.com about some of the horror stories. I'll post it tomorrow when I get to work.

Well once after a new transmission my cables just poped out of the thing. I just had to lock them back and everything was great. Might look into it.

You know what gets me? It's how people assume that highrev was at fault for the shifter cable breaking. Loki never stated that he had any tranny work done, just a new motor put in. In fact Loki never even placed any blame on highrev to begin with, yet a few people jump all over highrev becasue they did the motor swap? Geez... .

I nearly got rid of my car because of the hood incident last weekend...but I'll be keeping it and repairing it, instead!
Sorry to see you go man, modding cars isn't for everybody, and some cars are just always giving problems. I've been lucky so far, even a 75 shot hasn't destroyed my lil 2200.
On the other hand, keep in mind, that if you mod any car it's gonna break. I know, I've blown a 350 V8, a 400 V8, and numerous two strokes...
It's part of the game. My shifter cable screw broke too once, not a hard fix.
So everyone should know that he is keeping his car after he replaced the shift cables....
Glad we could get that motor in for ya Jared....talk to ya on AIM bro....

Yeah, No offense to any other auto Makers. But i work for a "Customer satisfaction" company and we do Surveys for Auto manuf's. I work on Honda (which we all know run forever)< but i've also called on VW, AUDI & BMW.
Honestly after have done service calls to try to do surveys and listening to customers.. I dunno how in the hell BMW stays afloat!! VW & AUdi are right behind them. If any of you ever think about BMW it's not the cost of the car, it's the cost of maintance. all the maintance must be done at a dealership warrenty work or not.. and if you do not do that, it breaks the warrenty contract on new vehicles. How does the tune of $300-$500 just for an oil change? LOL then they mis-diagnose problems & change things that are fine. Tell you you need a new motor for $10,000.00 instead of looking for the real problem which lies in the ECU & other equiptment. The only BMW that run decently are the older gens (80-97ish) and the new 3,4 series. Im not sure about the new 6's i've not called on them in awhile. But the 745i's seats catch on fire, ECU shuts down when driving, MAJOR mechanical & ECU problems.. the whole car is a giant problem. 4-5 visits for the same warrenty work on the problem.
VW & Audi are JUST as expensive to maintain and keep running when something does happen. So now that i know this.. Im actually quite pleased when i have to deal w/ someone it's GM & not BMW. LOL haha
