I have no idea what their real intent was there, but at minimum it was childish and irresponsible. At worst it was racist and sexist as the article implies.

suspension is definetley called for in this case. a police officer should be professional at all times, even off duty, making videos that make fun of the police should not be tolerated

It was done as a retirement gag for one of the Captians is what was said on one news show that I saw this morning.
So perhaps it was just really bad judgement on their part. Too bad really, they likely started out with good intentions but then got carried away.. It happens to us children

I'd have to see the tape to say for sure, but it sounds like people blowing off steam about their job. Who hasn't made fun of someone that they have to be around at work? What if this was a group of drive-thru employees at McDonalds making fun of people placing orders for someone's retirement party? Would they be suspended for making jokes about people ordering 4 large sandwhiches and a DIET coke?
Maybe they should play tapes of Reno 911 at their suspension hearings. Or Mad tv, or Dave Chappelle's show...
