I am getting ready to remove the gold bowtie from my trunklid on my 04 cavalier, and ive heard about using fishing line to help in the removal, any size fishing line (I have a roll of 7lb fishing line here at the house) or doesnt it matter? thanks
as long as it gets behind the bowtie that's what matters. use gloves.
check on the gloves, thx blucavvy
I honestly don't use fishing line anymore. I just heat the emblem up and pull up on one corner with a flat-head screwdriver (that doesn't entail prying against the body of the car.) Once the corner is pulled up, you can usually do the rest by hand, heating as you go. Fishing line will guarantee all the adhesive is left behind. This method usually eliminates 50% of it, as it stays with the emblem.
It needs to be rated for salmon. 55 lb line diameter is 0.32332433 and don't forget to pull it at a 90 degree angle. If that doesn't work you might have to hook it up to a rhino fishing rod.
^ don't be hating on the rhino lol best damn fishing rod there is for $20, and the tip is damn near indestructible.
