I am going to need some help in any way, shape, or form.
I am in this situation where I lost my CC because I installed a header and I have the GM strut brace too, so there is no room. Using the stock or GM's kit bracket is out of the question.
My questions are, what other CC bracket option is made for the J and is not bolted to the firewall? Also if anybody has a picture of their bracket, it would so be helpful.
Lastly, is there a way to remove the 2.4L bracket's housing with out breaking it and just have the control unit in hand, so I can adapt another bracket onto it?
Thanks

There's the Ecotec passenger-strut-tower-mounted bracket, with a longer CC cable... or the original 2.2L GM strut tower brace, which has two bolts to the firewall and a bracket for the CC off the passenger tower... one number off of the GM strut bar you currently have
^ Yep and GM does not make the bar with the bracket.

Do you know if the Ecotec will work on a 2.4L?
Does anyone have any pics of he bracket?

If I could find the damn things, I've got pics of all three GM strut bars... 1. 1 bolt to firewall, 2. 2 bolts to firewall, 3. 2 bolts to firewall w/ CC bracket - I know it exists, might not be any left at GM warehouse now tho, it's been a long time now.
Here's the Ecotec bracket:
http://www.hotrodder.com/kwkride/cruise2.jpg
There's a plastic tab at the back that folds out, plus a part of plastic bends in at the bottom to hold it in place. Fold the tab out, and use a screwdriver to hold the other tab out, and it should slide out. I broke mine try, tho... it's pretty fragile after all the heat from the exhaust manifold.
Dude, if you can find the other pics it will be so much appreciated.

That other pic helped out a lot!
Now onthe Eco one, I see one is connected to the tower, the other is connected to the engine mount. By any chance would you know if that bracket will line up with the 2.4's engine mount? Which there are 2 studs on it.
Also since the CC will be wedged in-between the tower and engine, would you know if there is enough clearance for the CC?
Thanks on how to remove the braket, I am going have try it out.

Mr.Goodwrench-G.T.
this is mine but its not a 2.4 but I do have the GM bar .. my CC was Factory mounted on the strut tower... hope it helps.
.
^^^EXCELLENT! TY so much! Nice touch with the green.
Now lets hope that bracket with the CC fits on a 2.4L.
J-Lenko, by any chance would you know the part# on these 2 brackets?
Again thanks for the help, you guys saved me some head aches.

But of course
The 2.2L bracket is #22678081. There's a 2.3L bracket too, no idea what it looks like tho... #22599898. Then the 2.4L bracket (which should be the same as what you already have), #22599558. The Ecotec bracket is #22678081.
...j
^^Excellent! TY!
Now was the Ecotec bracket part # a typo? Because it is the same as the 2200's one.

If so, do you have the part # for that one too?
Again thanks.

J-Lenko,
I went to see if I could purchase the CC braket. And it looks like GM changed the design of the 2200 CC bracket. And it looks like the the one that "Robert (intimidator)" out does not exist any more.

Which is the one I needed.
I ordered the new one, now I hope it just fits.
I'll keep you posted.

Hmm... I just re-typed what was on my parts sheets... looks like that bracket replaced the original 2.2L one, which is why the number is the same. Good ol' GM!
You might have to find one at a wrecker...

hey I have a 97 Z that also has CC .. I also have a CC with bracket if you need .. I'm not sure the CC of a Z 24 will fit on the bracket of the 2200 ... If you can wait till this Sat I will try to mount the CC of my Z on the 2200 bracket .. take a look at the pics and see what you think ... let me know if you want this setup I have .. I wont hit you up for a arm and leg for it . lol
Robert you're a life saver man. lol That is the bracket I am looking for.

Could you tell me if that same set-up in the pic fits on the tower with a 2.4L? Because i have the same CC unit.
I am really interested in the bracket with the 3 bolts only.
How much would you want for it?
Please let me know ASAP as I'll try to cancel my order tomorrow.
Thanks a million.

Cruise control units are the same 95-97 and 98-05, regardless of model. I think the unit is the same as the one I pulled out of the Buick Park Avenue too...
Well, this morning I tried to cancel my order, but they could not do so.
When I get it, I will check how this new one will fit.
Robert (intimidator),
Same deal as the previous post...
