Mounting LS Sport Sides

Ok what should I do . I was thinking useing self tapers on the bottom under the car and in the wheel wells. But what about the upper portion. It has the tabs for something to mount them so i was thinking of just putting 3M double sided tape on those tabs. Or should i drill holes and get the clips?

Thanks
Jeremy

when i put my z24 sides on.... i put a screw in each wheel well, and double sided tap along the middle, under the car i used self tapping screws. i didn't want to put factory clips on because, i didn't want to have to take my sides off and have holes you could see.

I am also trying to get LS sides installed on a base model cav. Would using the 3M tape hold well enough if I just put some screws in the part where they wrap into the wheel well and way underneath, with just the 3m tape along hte middle part where the sides meet the door sill area.

If this is the case I could prob do the install myself.

If you use tape, get the high performance exterior mounting tape made by 3M. I bought some at Office Max. A four inch strip is rated to hold 5 pounds. So figure how long your skirt is and what it weighs. If you used 5 feet of tape per skirt, the tape should hold 75 lbs. To allow a good safety margin given the impact of normal driving, I would shoot for a minimum 5-to-1 rated load to real load factor. In other words, in my example above, I would feel fairly confident that the tape would perform reliably as long as the skirt weighed 15 lbs or less. Of course the screws in the wheel wells will help also. Why not try it and see what happens. Just keep an eye on the tape for several hundered miles of operation. If it starts to fail, just pull them off and fasten them the harder but correct way.
