simple taillight question
Saturday, June 18, 2005 9:23 PM
I ordered black taillights for my 2K cavalier but, they seem different than the stock ones. The stock ones have three threaded pins that stick into the trunk and the after market ones have un-threaded pins. So do make new threads by screwing the nuts on or is there another method?

they are called self threading or self tapping posts. you basically just take the "nuts" off the stock tails and when you put them on the new tails, they cut the threads into those posts.

like he said. they're also known as speed nuts. just use a socket wrench to fasten them. when i put my tails in my car i was didn't know what they were either haha

thread it before you put it on the car or else you run a high risk of snapping the post off.
