I was tossing some ideas around in my head...
Would it be possible with a kit or something to remove the 2.4L DOHC cover from my engine, and put a decent finish on the cam covers, and show the engine like that?
OR
Should I stop being a douche, and just paint the 2.4L DOHC cover black, and polish the fins?

haha, that was funny
Personally I hate the way the 2.4 looks without the idi cover
it is possible but it will look even worse because of the ignition system being unfder the cover. what you could do is send the idi cover out for chrome here is a list of chromers if your interested.

Meckster, I haven't pulled the cover yet, so I don't know what it looks like underneath. I guess I'll find out soon enough, the weather is getting super nice here.
The only reason I suggested it, is the cam covers have an eerie similarity to valve covers of a V8 block, at leasat that's what I think of when I see them (I saw a picture of a 2.3 with the cover off).
Jokr, thanks for the link. I'm gonna look into it seeing there are a few shops nearby.
Any idea what it would cost to have that cover done?

truthfully i have no idea what it would cost but i assume it would be under 100 dollas. because it isn't that big of a piece. you will prob have to do some prep work to it for them.
$100 isn't bad... but I think for right now I may just throw a little paint on it....
Would I need hi temp paint for this piece?
And just to make sure, can I drive the car with this piece off?

i would definately recommend 500 degree high temp paint. i don't know if you can drive with it off the car though. maybe if you remoived everything from the underside it will still run.
Well for anyone that doesn't know, I found out....
Under the cover is a long white plastic "box" which has 4 contacts which touch 4 contact points between the cam covers....
After seeing this, I put the cover back on, and had to force the bolts in a little bit...
I bolted them down and started the car, and it idled pretty rough.
I took the cover back off, then put it back on, making sure all contacts were aligned properly, bolted it on, and it ran fine.
So yea.. that was fun

now go take a picture of it i wanna see what it looks like...
You guys are missing the point. The white box with the 4 contact points are the coils. In order to remove the IDI cover (and drive with it) you would have to switch over to a coil and wire system.
Personally, I have something cooked up for my IDI cover, I just need to find a good welder and a grinder

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!
Jokr.. I'll take a pic another day for ya ...
Shifted.. after seeing the coils bolted to the underside of the cover, I'm gonna skip trying to drive with the cover off
I'll just rip it all apart when I'm ready for paint or chrome......
