Now that both programs support the j-body what are some of the differences between the two? I am not that familiar wiht efi live nor have I heard of anybody tuned with it. I'm just hoping to see if any other members have any experiance with efi live and if it offers any benifits over HPT as far as tuning for boost on an unboosted car from the factory.
Thanks
well i wouldnt see how it could tune for boost better than hpt, or any other tuning software, as the problem isnt the software, it is the cars factory set up. Either one you will loose resolution when tuning for boost unless someone comes out with a custom OS for our application....not likely
after reading the info on efi live and the custom os screens section it seems as if the program can tune for boost, because it has added tables, and you can tune by speed density? I'm not the best when it comes to tuning so bear with me here, as I am still learning.
Here is a link to what I am talking about.

I already did, I am waiting for a responce. I will post it when I get it.
Im gonna be pissed if they have it available!!!

This is directly from the EFI live email I got, I asked about custom OS, and the differences between this product and HPT:
We don’t currently have a Custom OS available for vehicles other than LS1 and LB7/LLY Duramax vehicles. I’m not aware that HP Tuners does either?
We obviously think our product is superior in a number of ways...
- Our Scan and Tune tools are integrated and allows for active tracking (both while recording and during playback) of the active cell in the calibration. This is VERY handy when reviewing your tune!
- We have been a little slow with getting some support to market. The plus side to this is that we are very particular with the quality of our product and ensure its quality before throwing it out to the customer base.
- We offer potential customers to download and install our software (which runs in Demo mode). This enables you to evaluate our product and enables you to make a personal product assessment prior to your purchase. There are some sample tune and log files included in the product installation. The software can be downloaded from here:
http://www.efilive.com/download.aspx
- We get a lot of customers changing from HPT to EFILive. They tell us constantly that we have a better product, and that our support is superior to any of our competition.
Hopefully we’ll be seeing you on the forum (http://forum.efilive.com) soon

None of those reasons really shows that their product is superior...
I'm d/ling to check out the software though
Yeah they will have a superior product when they have a custom OS for the jbody, obviously that should be their number one priority

I have contacted them also about developing a custom OS....I think we all know where HPT stands on the subject, well see what they have to say.....Ill post when I hear back.
I'll buy EFILive if they offer a custom OS. And thats immeadiately.

FU Tuning
here is the latest communication from the EFI live team, I asked why is our application only V2 compatible, what plans they had for a custom OS, and if the V2 was a stand alone tuning unit, or if it still used a computer:
I’m not aware of any immediate plans to develop a custom OS for your platform. But, I’m also not the guy that would make those decisions
So I’ll forward you message on internally as well.
The FlashScan V2 is the only platform being developed. FlashScan V1 is the legacy product, but some people still purchase it based on the price difference and the fact they don’t need V2 for vehicle support. FlashScan V2 includes additional communication protocol support, which is why it’s supported vehicle list is a lot more extensive.
The standalone capabilities of the FlashScan V2 are being developed so that the reading/flashing/scanning can be performed without a laptop/PC. You will still always need to manipulate the calibration using the Tune Tool (PC software).
Yeah I would def. ditch HPT for 2bar map support.

And send it to HPT too so they can see they have competition. Maybe that'll light a fire under their ass?

As if. HPT Tuners has already stated, in not so many words, that they've given us all they ever plan on giving us and we can @!#$ off if we want more. At least that's what I got from them.

I agree, but that was before they had competition. It's a shot in the dark and I doubt anything will be done. I don't so much care now that I have the port fueler and HPT.
I personally still want a 3bar OS based off of the GMPP S/C 2bar flash, basically just adding more resolution and giving it 3bar love.
-Trailblazer SS - not so custom 6.0L - custom intake - custom tune
- (1) 2.4L on an engine stand (1) blown trans (2) good quad trans (1) eco trans = party
I just want a multi-BAR TUNABLE setup. I don't care if it's 2 BAR or 3 BAR or 45 BAR as long as it's tunable.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

I should be hearing from him in next few days ill keep u guys updated.
