What years/makes/engines will the Cobalt OS work with exactly? Is there a compatibility list somewhere?
Thanks guys.
Sorry, I'm an f-body/Vette guy primarlily....
Can I get models and engines of compatability please? No chance of doing this to an 04 Cav?

HPT is able and fully capable of tuning ANY 97-2005 Jbody (excluding ECO S/C Reflash)

Yeah I understand that
But it's a @!#$ty TPS based approach... which is fine for NA and possibly even S/C but doesn't begin to address the dynamics of turbocharging.
I have an 04 Cav to tune and I'm looking through all of his options right now. The car has a dinosaur FMU on it but it may have to stay on there... I wanted to know if I could flash a binary from a factory boosted car (and have the pins work out) so I can use MAP based fueling rather than TPS based... That's all I'm really after with this thread.
I'm a noob so correct me if I'm wrong but you should be able to get a flash to a different year cavalier (Assuming you are using HPT and have a good friend at GM) . I'm pretty sure my 05 cav uses MAP vs RPM

unfortunatly no.... While I agree Alpha N is not Ideal for boosted applications, it can be done... I have have quite a few with great results...

So you leave on the FMU and just tweak PE to keep peak boost in line or what? It will need enough PE and FMU-crankage to cover full spool pretty much anywhere in the RPM band that it's possible to have such...

I can usually get a good tune w/o the FMU... Just make sure you have good pump, big enough injectors, and get jiggy with the VE tables... Some on here do the Fake 2bar. I have done a few, but usually get a better tune w/o it. What size turbo, injectors, and how much boost do you plan on running???
P&P Tuning

Hahn Stage 2 Turbo Complete Kit
TurboSmart MBC
Walbro 255 High Flow Fuel
Accel 350cc Injectors
Underdrive Pulley 20% Red
Aquamist Injector System with 3 bar map sensor.
BEGI 5:1 FMU
Able to run up to 12psi ~8psi on the daily. owner will be using pure methanol for the octane value. the injectors listed are not in the car yet.
So I guess I'm just stuck tweaking around this FMU...
There is a 97, 2.4L, Sunfire, and 5-Speed "Liquidplasma's" OS floating around that is Speed Density, and not Alpha-N.

Actually "ON TOPIC" would be pointing me in the right direction for a boosted 04 CAV....
Ass hat here are a few 03-05 BOOSTED CAVs and one 05 BOOSTED fire using HPTuners. Next time find them yourself. Go to members and search for HPTuners. It took me less than 5 minutes to do it.

Steve, what exaclty do you need??? By looking at your website and some of your customers cars, I would assume you know the proper fundamentals of "tuning".. If you want, PM me with what exactly you are having problems with and I'll see if I can help..

I haven't taken this customer yet, I'm really busy with normal crowd and he wants to really push his stock bottom end.
I was trying to find out if the stock PCM could be used for a boost referenced tune ie, 2 bar style setup for fueling.

So then... you are saying liquid plasma's Map based OS from a 97 will work on an 04? There is nothing to repin or change up?
Out of the 2 '04s you listed only one is actually tuned with HPT and he has no details.... he also claims 650whp... do you guys really make that kind of power? I make about 600rwhp @ 10psi in my TA and should be well north of 700rwhp at the 15.5 psi that I run on the street but that's the limit for pump gas and meth... that's also an LSx platform. It's hard to believe that he could make so much with less than half the displacement.
Anyway...
I have not decided whether or not to tune this guy's 04 yet. If I could use a MAP based OS I'd do it, not gonna play with Aplha-N though.
So I guess what I REALLY want to know is, what can I do with this 04 Cav and his OE PCM?
the 97 OS will not work woth the 04... Sounds to me like you are not tuning this car because you are not going to be able to do it b MAP...

How can an alpha N scheme POSSIBLY yield controlled fueling in this application without an FMU though?
In first gear 50% throttle probably won't make any boost at all but but sustained 30% in a higher gear could reach full spool... Without a MAP reference and without an FMU how do you describe these scenarios? Not to mention that, for example, pick an RPM range... lets say the 3K area. At WOT the car could still be in vacuum or could be at full boost. How is this handled in te aplha-n model?
It can be done but you would need to use a LSJ motor with a cobalt PCM, im pretty sure it can be done but nobody has tried it everyone wants to use a L61 PCM on an LSJ and thats just the wrong way to do things, use the proper PCM for the engine

Read above, the setup is in place already; it's not like he's gonna swap engines to get a tune...
He's not gonna run mega squirt and I don't know what else to do with the car so I think I'll send him to another tuner.
Thanks guys.

No, I was referring to the Alpha N comment before.
2.4l 97-99, Alpha-N, well until liquid plasma's find.
2.4l 00-02, Speed density.
2.2l 03-05, Speed density, not 100% sure though.
96-02 2.4l LD9 Motor
03-05 2.2l L61 Motor
I know nothing about 2.2l LN2 motors. 96-02
I will be trying to use that 97 speed density OS with my 99 Alpha N computer, and 00-02 GM charger.
Also there are quite a few j-body's in the 400HP range. A few claim more, but they have never given any evidence to support their claims.

All VEs in this 04 are Vs. TPS not MAP
TO which I quote my earlier post
