hi i am new at hp and havent tuned yet looking for some advice.
I have a custom 2004 sunfire vin f 2.2l ecotec with weisco pistons, eagle rods, turbo 10psi intercooled, 42lb green 440cc injectors fuel pressure set to 42psi.
Im looking to setup the injectors with the motor. I know they put out more fuel so that means i would have to change the injector timing?
here is conditions
stock tune
at 10psi car hesitates then go's, smell of fuel. if keep boosting washes cylinder and causes missfire.
so knowing this where do we start?
steps to take?
at idle those injectors are putting a little more fuel than stock, but once in boost they are not putting enough. So do not boost until properly tuned.

ok so where do i start with hpt for the proper fuel settings
You need to start by installing a wideband so you know what your AFRs are.
ill be getting one this week. can anything be done in the mean time
You can blow it up in the mean time...

Exactly.
A experienced tuner could setup a base tune that would likely be safe, but seeing as you do know what your doing it is not recommended without a wideband.
Also read the HPT Tuner thread in this forum that has lots of good info.

ok thanks allot i got a wideband on order i will do allot of reading in the mean time. ive looked in the tuner repository on hpt and cant seem to find any time with my specs. but ill post again once i got the wideband and ready to go.
oh another thing is i cant get the historigram to work on the scanner is it because the pcm doesn't support it? the pcm number is 12587617 with p11 controller if that helps. should i be looking into a different harness and pcm? either way it has to get done. And should i be looking at doing a 2.5bar fake because of the turbo on 1 bar sensor or just upgrade harness and pcm to get more bar sensors?
What is the harness and the PCM from?
jason norwood wrote:What is the harness and the PCM from?
the one im using is from a 2004 pontiac sunfire with that pcm. pcm uses tps and map to adjust fuel trims and timing

It uses TPS and RPM for fueling while driving.
Ilde fueling and timing is controlled by map.

ill be waiting for the wideband before i get to tuning then ill ask for more advice and log everything
I have almost the exact same set up only the Cobalt SS injectors at 6psi and its tuned real well by a fellow member on here, I agree start with the wideband.

can you post your tune and what you have on motor
Most people on here aren't just going to "give" you a tune.. FYI...

Nor should they...
What works on one car doesn't always work on another.

Not to mention people pay good money for good tunes....... or wait a long time to get the right tune? right?^^^^^^^
Yep, my tuner had about 10 ish hours into it.
I've handed out tunes before.... but then again I'm the one investing hours and hours and hours of free time to do these tunes.
Haven't done an eco though, sorry.

Slowly but surely may some day win this race...
First is to get your inj constant right
I believe it should be 0.10194
Reasoning is
The formula to get the correct constant is (old (or) stock injector flow / new injector flow)*old injector constant = new injector constant.
So 252 should be stock 440 with the 42s and your stock Inj Cont IIRC is 0.17800
So 252/440 = 0.57272727272 time 0.17800 = 0.10194545454
So Your Inj Constant would be 0.10194
