what is the fastest factory 4 cyl car made. i know the 94 preludes, the srt4 and the newer integra type r is pretty fast, but im not sure which one is actually fastest. can anyone help me out?

WRX STI or a Evo. . i think the Evo VIII is a little bit faster but they are pretty much even

Evo has less HP than an STI
EVO has less HP but i think it tested better 1/4 EVO is lighter than the WRX. They said it was the more nuetral in handleing than the WRX. EVO overall did better than WRX but from what i understand the EVO has more mechanical issues than the WRX.

Every comparison I've read has the WRX STI on top, stats wise, and I subscribe to a lot of magazines. However, the EVO always wins the comparisons because it is so much easier to handle and drive.

All the magazine i have read have had teh EVO10th's faster than the WRX. I would call them just about equal lots of variable could account for the differences. Tires, weather etc..
I would still get a WRX don't care for DSM. Plus i went to a DSM dealership and they tried to screw me and also the manage laughed at me when i came there to talk about a car. I drove a fixed up Cavy don't know what he thought but i can and still can afford a much better can than i am currently driving.

i argee with Strat81 the ariel atom is the fastest 4 cylinder. all it is is just a car nothing else no radio no doors no nothing. it doesnt even a a windsheild. check it out on Top Gear. it can go from 0 to 100 back to 0 faster then any other out there. i forget the exact speed but it was like 9 sec. it only weights 1000 lbs. it blow the SRT-4 out of the water. but i bet no one has heard of this car

and the Evo FQ 420 is alot faster then all the cars you guys are talking about. it is only made in Europe it is a Evo but with 420 bhp. the bad thing it is in the same insurance class as a Pagaini Zonda. lol

See, a car like an atom has an integra engine and I don't really think there a automobile manufactuar per se. More of a kit car and there are plenty of others ones like it. If you include them then you almost have to include the special edition cars that are sold w/ full warrantys from the dealer. Theres some 350hp and 400hp "stock" evos available in both the UK and the US for example.
America also gets the watered down cars, some of the older evos are quite a bit faster then the 276hp the japanese gentlemens agreement limits them too. Theres some wierd ass cars out there very few in america have heard of that make insane power with 4 bangers. I really could not tell you which is the fastest without some kind of limitations.
100% Stock, the U.S. sti is slightly faster then the U.S. evo in a straight line BTW.
still, the atoms accel and such are real close to the enzo
and the evo fq420 is not faster than the arial atom, im sorry
dave lee... how do you figure? ariel is an auto manufacturer and they "mass produce" cars... much like shelby and the like.
even with a 400 hp evo, i don't think it'll touch the atom... unless it'll run with the likes of a ferrari enzo and a porsche carrera gt (as the ariel will do via the Top Gear clip of the car)

There is no longer any DSMs in production, the company was dissolved nearly 10 years ago. There never was such a thing as a DSM dealership, so I find it hard that one tried to "rip off" anyone.
The Atom is definately it, but does it count. They're not exactly "production" cars, and they use a modified Honda engine, definately not a production version.
Does't Porche make any turbo'd flat 4s anymore?

hahahaha... they are production cars. they are produced by ariel. a company that has been manufacturing cars and motorcycles (apparently) since 1898... regardless of where they outsource their motors and what they do to them. a shelby from the factory came with a modified ford motor... yet it's considered a stock shelby. so how would a car that uses another engine platform that's modified and put in a different car not considered stock?
